Log splitters in Montenegro: prices of hydraulic splitters, splitting mauls and wedges from MAXPULS, Stihl, TKSL and Centrometal at Okov, KIPS and Ananas (2026)
On 29 September 2026 a hydraulic log splitter costs from €359.21 for a MAXPULS on Ananas to €629.14 for the MAXPULS MP-VLS030 on the same site, and the LE58300-08V splitter at KIPS costs €589.99 instead of €749.90. Hand tools are much cheaper: splitting mauls and manual splitters cost from €24.90 to €49, with a median of €33.45, and a steel splitting wedge from €12.90 to €19.90, with a median of €15.40.

What people search for
In Google Trends for Montenegro, over the 12 months to 28 September 2026, the term cjepac (splitter) had no measurable interest, so splitters are searched for rarely and mostly through autocomplete.
On 28 September 2026 Google completed cepac za drva (log splitter) with crna gora (Montenegro), monofazni (single phase), trofazni (three phase), na kardan (PTO driven), polovni (used) and cena polovan (used price) and with the name villager cena (Villager price), and cjepac drva with za traktor (for a tractor), olx, sa dizel motorom (with a diesel engine) and na struju (electric). So people look for an electric or tractor splitter, and many check used machines in classified ads.

Hydraulic splitters at KIPS and on Ananas
At Okov the searches for cjepač za drva and cepač za drva on 29 September 2026 returned no splitter, only wood stoves, wood cookers and log baskets, so we found hydraulic splitters only in the other two shops. At KIPS the LE58300-08V log splitter costs €589.99, and its regular price is €749.90. On Ananas the MAXPULS log splitter costs €359.21 and the MAXPULS MP-VLS030 €629.14.
Three machines are too few for a reliable median, so we list them one by one. The shop names do not always give the splitting force, voltage and log length, so check these in the product description or with the seller before buying.
Mauls and wedges at Okov
At Okov the searches for bat za cijepanje and klin za cijepanje returned 3 mauls and 9 wedges. The TKSL splitting maul of 3 kg with a 950 mm wooden handle and the identical Viga Tool cost €34.90 each, and the Stihl of 3 kg with an 850 mm handle €49.
Steel splitting wedges of 18, 23 and 25 cm cost €12.90, €15.99 and €19.90, and TKSL wedges of 1.5 kg and 2 kg €15.99 and €18.99. Aluminium wedges of 600 g, 800 g and 1000 g cost €32.99, €45.80 and €59.20, and the Twist wedge with twisted sides €52.50.
Manual splitters and wedges at KIPS and on Ananas
At KIPS a splitting axe of 2.5 kg with a 90 cm handle costs €31.99, a splitting wedge of 2 kg €14.80, and a forestry wedge of 2.5 kg and a forestry wedge with 4 ridges of 2.5 kg €14.50 each. On Ananas the Centrometal forged splitter with a handle of 3 kg costs €24.90, and of 5 kg €31.
What to choose for how much wood
For several cubic metres of dry beech or oak logs a splitting maul and two wedges are enough. A maul has a wide, blunt wedge-shaped head that is heavier than an axe, so it splits the log by weight rather than by the edge. You drive a wedge into the crack or the end of the log when it does not split at the first blow, and strike it with the back of the maul or a sledgehammer, never with the edge of an axe. Aluminium wedges are pricier and softer and are mostly used for felling trees, because they do not damage the chainsaw chain if it touches them.
A hydraulic splitter pays off for larger amounts, knotty and wet wood and for people who find splitting by hand hard. An electric splitter of 230 V runs from an ordinary socket, a three phase one needs a 400 V connection, and a PTO splitter is driven by a tractor. Before buying, compare the splitting force, the maximum log length, the stroke speed and whether it splits horizontally or vertically. If you split once a year, it is often cheaper to buy wood that is already cut and split, or to rent a splitter.

What the EU requires of machinery manufacturers
The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC requires in Article 5, paragraph 1, that before placing machinery on the market the manufacturer ensures that it satisfies the essential health and safety requirements of Annex I, that the technical file is available, that the necessary information such as instructions is provided, that the conformity assessment is carried out, that the EC declaration of conformity is drawn up and that the CE marking is affixed. Annex I, point 1.7.4.1, requires the instructions to cover not only the intended use but also reasonably foreseeable misuse, and to be written understandably for non-professional users.
Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 on machinery replaces this directive and under Article 54 applies from 14 January 2027. Montenegro is not an EU member, but a CE marking, an EC declaration and instructions in a language you understand are a good sign that the splitter is made for the European market. When working, wear safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves, do not bypass guards and controls and keep your hands away from the wedge while the log splits.
