Saws at Okov
At Okov the searches for ručna testera, lučna testera and testera za drvo returned, leaving out electric saws and blades, 11 hand saws. The Topex Shark 400 mm wood saw costs €8.99, and a 533 mm wood saw with a hardened blade €10.99. 150 mm drywall saws cost €2.90 for Top Tools, €4.99 for Total and €6.49 for Hoegert, and Pebaro coping saws €6.49 and €16.49, the latter with a clamping head and spring.
For branches a 300 mm Total costs €4.99, a Total telescopic saw reaching 2.8 m €24.90, and a 33 cm hand saw €74.90. The Neo 53 cm hand chain saw costs €7.39 (regular price €9.90).
Saws at KIPS and on Ananas
At KIPS the search for testera returned 89 items, 33 of them hand saws. A 150 mm hacksaw costs €1.49, a 145 mm universal saw €2.69, and a 300 mm Ingco bi-metal hacksaw €4.69. For wood and PVC the Ingco 400, 500 and 550 mm cost €5.19, €6.59 and €6.99, hardened saws from 400 to 500 mm from €6.69 to €10.99, and the Gross 400 and 450 mm €17.99 and €18.99. Bow saws cost €6.49 for 533 mm (regular price €8.30), €8.99 for 762 mm and €11.49 and €14.99 for Cellpro. For plasterboard and plywood KIPS has a 170 mm saw for €14.90, for aerated block an Ingco 600 mm for €16.90 and an MTX 700 mm for €18.90, and for branches saws from €7.99 to €42.49 for one with a stainless blade. An Ingco saw with a mitre guide costs €9.99, and a Gross mitre saw €64.90.
On Ananas the search for ručna testera returned 75 items, from which, leaving out blades, files, shears and power tools, we picked 39 hand saws. A Total costs €3.99, an EM TOP €4.80, Tolsen panel saws of 450, 500 and 550 mm €5.58, €5.85 and €6.21, a Truper 760 mm €11.50, a Beorol 55 cm €12.10, and a Beorol 70 cm builder's saw €23.12. A Tolsen 710 mm saw for aerated block costs €16.83, and a Maurer for chipboard, wood, hardboard and plaster €16.62. Bow saws cost from €6.93 for Tolsen to €33 for a framed bow saw, and hacksaws from €2.97 to €6.44. For branches Verdemax 18 and 24 cm cost €17 and €27, a Bormann telescopic saw with pruner reaching 2.4 m €19.90, and a Felco €46.
Which saw for which job
A wood saw, or panel saw, is for boards, battens and PVC; the coarser the teeth, the faster and rougher the cut, while finer teeth give a clean cut for trim and furniture. Hardened teeth stay sharp for a long time but cannot be sharpened, so such a saw is replaced when it goes dull. A bow saw with a thin blade is fastest for firewood and thicker branches, a hacksaw with a blade in a frame cuts pipes, profiles and rods, and a drywall saw has a pointed tip for piercing the board for a socket.
For aerated concrete and similar blocks take a saw with coarse carbide teeth, because an ordinary wood saw dulls quickly. A pruning saw with a curved blade cuts on the pull stroke and is for pruning, and a telescopic one reaches branches without a ladder. A mitre guide, flat or box, helps you cut trim at forty-five degrees and join it into a right angle. Always fix the piece with a clamp, keep your hand away from the cut line and wear gloves. What the EU says about hardwood dust
In Annex I, point 5, Directive 2004/37/EC on the protection of workers from carcinogens and mutagens lists work involving exposure to hardwood dust as a process to which the directive applies. Annex III sets a limit value for hardwood dust of 2 mg/m³ for the inhalable fraction over 8 hours, and until 17 January 2023 the limit was 3 mg/m³. If hardwood dust is mixed with other wood dust, the limit applies to all the wood dust in that mixture.
Montenegro is not an EU member, but the same lesson applies in the workshop: a hand saw raises less dust than a power saw, but beech, oak and walnut still produce fine dust. For longer cutting of hardwood, work in a well-ventilated place or outdoors, wear a mask and collect the dust with a vacuum, not a broom.

We did not count electric, cordless and chainsaws, blades sold on their own, files or shears, and at Okov the search showed only the first page of results. We did not measure how long a blade stays sharp or how fast a saw cuts.
