On 29 September 2026 pliers cost from €2.79 for small combination and needle nose pliers at KIPS to €139.90 for the 560 mm Knipex Cobra XXL at Okov, with a median of €16.14 across 66 pliers from two shops. Combination pliers have a median of €12.49, insulated VDE pliers up to 1000 V €30.90, and a set of three or six pliers costs from €12.49 to €109.90.

Total combination pliers cost from €4.49 to €5.49, Hoegert €6.99 for 160 mm, €7.99 for 180 mm and €8.99 for 200 mm, Unior 405/4G from €11.49 to €13.49 and Unior 405/1BI €16.99 and €18.49. Knipex combination pliers cost from €17.99 to €25.90, and Hoegert multifunction 9u1 pliers €11.99.
VDE combination pliers up to 1000 V cost €19.99 and €21.90 for Unior 406/1VDE BI, €26.50 for a 220 mm Unior, from €29.90 to €36.90 for Knipex and €44.90 for Knipex with elongated jaws, and Knipex VDE installation pliers €69.90. The Knipex Cobra costs €31.90 for 180 mm, €34.90 and €36.90 for 250 mm, €46.90 for 300 mm, €79.90 for 400 mm and €139.90 for the 560 mm XXL. Combination pliers cost €2.79 for 130 mm, €4.79 for 180 mm and €5.59 for 200 mm, a 200 mm Maurer €10.49, and Maurer Plus €14.59 for 175 mm and €16.29 for 200 mm. Side cutters cost from €2.89 to €17.49, and needle nose pliers from €2.79 to €7.39.
Maurer 220 mm fencing pliers cost €4.69, Maurer+ €17.49 and €22.59, and Knipex €28.90 for 220 mm and €32.90 for 250 mm. A set of three pliers costs €23.90.
Which pliers to choose
Combination pliers grip, bend and cut thin wire, and they are the first pliers to own. Side cutters cut wire and cables more cleanly than combination pliers, needle nose pliers grip small parts in hard to reach places, and fencing pliers twist and cut annealed tie wire on rebar. The Knipex Cobra and similar water pump pliers have an adjustable opening and grip pipes and nuts, so plumbers use them instead of a wrench.
For work on electrical wiring take VDE pliers marked 1000 V, because their insulation is tested, but always switch off the power, because even insulated pliers are no protection against voltage. Cheap pliers blunt faster and have play in the joint, while more expensive forged steel pliers cut longer and do not wobble. For occasional use at home a set of three pliers is enough, and for daily work it pays to buy individual pliers from a better maker.

What information on chemicals you can request
Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) requires in Article 33, paragraph 1, that the supplier of an article containing a substance of very high concern in a concentration above 0.1 % weight by weight gives the recipient sufficient information for safe use, at least the name of that substance. Such substances may be found, for example, in plastic and rubber tool handles.
Paragraph 2 of the same article gives consumers the right to request this information, and the supplier must reply free of charge within 45 days. Montenegro is not an EU member, but tools from the EU come from suppliers who have this obligation, so you can request the information from well known makers through their websites.
