Elmark surface boards for 1, 2 and 4 modules cost €1.19, €1.29 and €1.79, flush boards with transparent doors €8.99 for 8 and €13.99 for 18 modules, and surface boards for 36 modules €20.99 with transparent and €23.90 with solid doors. Schneider Mini Pragma is on sale: the flush version for 12 breakers €11.48 and €11.64, for 18 €13.99 and €14.99 and for 36 €13.99, and the surface version for 18 €15.99 and for 36 €18.99.

At KIPS we took 65 boards and 21 cabinets from five searches; the median for boards is €27.50. Schneider consumer units cost €11.38 and €12.51 for 1 x 8, from €13.40 to €14.72 for 1 x 12, from €18.73 to €19.89 for 1 x 18, €20.08 and €22.07 for 2 x 12 and €29.46 and €30.95 for 3 x 12 ways. Hager costs €15.19 for 1 x 4, from €20.09 to €20.46 for 1 x 12, €26.69 and €27.03 for 2 x 12, €36.74 and €38.37 for 3 x 12 and €70.51 and €75.26 for 4 x 18 ways, and with metal doors €49.44 and €61.38.
Legrand Practibox costs from €25.78 for 1 x 22 to €70.79 for 3 x 18 ways, and TEM with metal doors €34.98 and €43.76. ABS distribution cabinets rated IP65 cost from €18.61 to €84.31, and other distribution cabinets from €83.35 to €320.03.
Surface or flush, and how many ways
A flush board is built into the wall and sits level with it, so it is chosen for renovations and new builds, while a surface board hangs on the wall and is chosen when the wall is left untouched. At KIPS the flush version of the same Hager or Schneider board costs €0.37 to €4.92 more. Solid doors hide the breakers, while transparent ones let you see their state without opening.
One way is one module, 18 mm wide. A single-pole breaker takes one module, and an RCD two for single phase and four for three phases. For a smaller flat 12 to 24 ways is usually enough, and for a house with more circuits 36 or more; leave at least a quarter of the ways free for a later charger, solar panels or air conditioning.

What EU rules require for charger cabling
Directive (EU) 2024/1275 on the energy performance of buildings requires in Article 14(4) that new residential buildings and residential buildings undergoing major renovation with more than three car parking spaces have pre-cabling for at least 50 % of the parking spaces and ducting for the rest, so that chargers for electric vehicles, e-bikes and other light vehicles can be installed later. New residential buildings with more than three parking spaces must also have at least one recharging point.
Member States had to transpose that article into their law by 29 May 2026, under Article 35. Montenegro is not an EU member, but if you plan a charger or solar panels, the cheapest option is for the electrician to leave space and a circuit for them when replacing the distribution board.

How we measured and what we did not
We copied prices from Okov and KIPS on the day of the check; we calculated the medians ourselves. We did not count junction boxes, meter and pole cabinets, low-voltage cabinets, substations, fire-hose cabinets and water-meter cabinets, and at Okov and KIPS we took only the first page of results. We took the number of ways and the mounting type from product names, and counted boards such as 1 x 12 as 12 ways. We did not count the price of breakers or labour.
