On 28 September 2026 a toolbox costs from €4.49 at Okov to €159.99 on Ananas, and the median is about €27 in all three shops: €27.40 at Okov, €26.90 at KIPS and €26.48 on Ananas. A hand tool set at KIPS costs from €29.90 for a 9-piece INGCO to €239, and a 120-piece Makita €79.99 instead of €119.90, or €0.67 per tool.

So people search for the shop, a metal and a large box and a tool set in a case for home and car.

At Okov the first page of the search for kutija za alat had 32 boxes. The cheapest are the W.best 310 mm at €4.49 and 415 mm at €7.99, the Total 356 mm at €7.99 and the Stanley Essential at €13.99. Boxes with an organiser cost €22.90 and €34.90 for Stanley and €44.90 for Workers Best, and Hoegert boxes with an aluminium handle from €24.90 to €29.90. The Keter ROC Pro Gear costs €79.90, the Mobile Gear €99.90, and a Qbrick set of three boxes on wheels €159.90.

At KIPS the search returned 131 results, of which 21 toolboxes, the rest being storage cases and organisers. Caliber costs from €4.99 for 300 mm to €26.90 for 597 mm, Titan Plus from €23.90 to €51.90, and X Block Pro from €47.90 to €104.99. Metal boxes cost €20.90 and INGCO €33.90 and €44.90.

On Ananas 16 toolboxes cost from €8.55 for Bormann to €159.99 for a metal Fieldmann. Metal boxes cost €19.50 for Somafix, €28.97 for Maxpuls, €31.92 for Emtop and €43 for Bormann, and the Bosch L-Boxx 374 €62.93.

Tool sets

At KIPS the search for set alata returned 389 results. INGCO hand tool sets cost €29.90 for 9 pieces, €84.90 for 82, €99.90 for 94, €119 for 100 and €149 for 137 pieces, and a 132-piece set in a metal box €229. Makita costs €114.90 for 76 pieces, €159.90 for 87 pieces in a Makpac case and €199 for 221 pieces. INGCO 20 V cordless tool sets cost from €149.99 to €399.90, and Makita 18 V ones from €449.99 to €1299.

At Okov the search for set alata returned mostly specialist sets, for example for bicycle repair at €24.90 and phone repair at €8.90, and a W.Best 18 V cordless drill and grinder set at €89.90 instead of €149.90. On Ananas an EM TOP 59-piece hand tool box costs €183.20.

What one tool in a set costs

By our calculation, one tool in a set costs €0.67 for the discounted 120-piece Makita, €0.90 for the 221-piece Makita, about €1.04 to €1.19 for INGCO sets of 82 to 137 pieces and €3.32 for the 9-piece INGCO. In big sets a large share of the pieces are often bits and sockets, so the number of pieces is not the same as the number of tools you will use.

What the EU requires on the packaging of power tools

In Article 4, Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance requires that for products covered by the legislation listed in paragraph 5, among them the machinery and low voltage directives, there is a responsible economic operator in the EU: a manufacturer, importer, authorised representative or fulfilment service provider. Its name or registered trade mark and address must be on the product, its packaging, the parcel or an accompanying document.

This applies to cordless drills and tool sets, not to a toolbox or hand tools. Montenegro is not an EU member, but if a power tool set shows neither the manufacturer nor the address of the responsible party, it will be harder to claim under the guarantee.

2. The latches: metal ones last longer than plastic.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from Okov, KIPS and Ananas on the day we read them, with the pre-discount price where shown; the medians and price per piece are ours. We took the number of pieces from the name, and removed storage cases, organisers, buckets, baskets and tools from the toolboxes. At Okov we read the first page of the search. We did not measure steel quality or box load capacity.
