Kemper costs €8.49 for 25 W, €8.90 for 30 W, €9.99 for 40 W, €10.50 for 60 W, €12.50 for 80 W and €15.50 for 100 W, and Total €8.90 for 40 W, €9.90 for 60 W and €14.90 for 100 W. A 100 W Stannol costs €24.90, the 8 W Kemper battery iron €11.90 and the 20 V 40 W Total cordless iron without a battery €19.99.
The 50 W Neo plastic welding iron with 200 staples in a case costs €24.90, and a 60 W Neo replacement iron for a station €14.90. Gas irons cost €10.99 for the Kemper micro soldering iron, €29.90 for the standing Kemper with a piezo igniter, €65 for the VersaTip 6 in 1 and €69.90 for the Dremel VersaTip 2000. Which soldering iron to choose
For electronics, circuit boards and thin wires an iron of 25 to 40 W with a fine tip is enough, because a stronger iron easily overheats and damages small parts. An iron of 60 to 100 W is for thicker cables, connectors and sheet metal, and 200 W for gutters and larger joints. Gas and cordless irons work without a socket, so they are handy on site, in a car or on a boat, and a gas iron can also be used for shrinking heat shrink tubing.
A plastic welding iron is not for solder: it melts plastic and embeds metal staples, so it is for repairing bumpers, bins and plastic housings. With an iron you also need rosin core solder, a stand and a sponge or wire for cleaning the tip. If you solder often, a temperature controlled station keeps the tip evenly hot and the tip lasts longer.

What the EU requires for lead at work
Directive (EU) 2024/869 amends Directive 2004/37/EC and in its Annex III lowers the occupational exposure limit for lead and its inorganic compounds in air to 0.03 mg/m³ as an eight hour average. The new Annex IIIa sets a binding biological limit of 30 µg of lead per 100 ml of blood until 31 December 2028 and 15 µg from 1 January 2029.
Under Article 3 Member States must transpose these rules by 9 April 2026. Montenegro is not an EU member, and the rules apply to workers, not to home use, but they show how dangerous lead is considered: at home choose lead free solder and do not eat or smoke while soldering.
