Grass seed in Montenegro: prices of lawn mixes for sun, shade, drought and sports fields, ryegrass and Turfline from 1 to 10 kg at KIPS and Ananas (2026)
On 29 September 2026 grass seed costs from €5.50 for 1 kg of perennial ryegrass at KIPS to €94.99 for 10 kg of Masterline Sportmaster in the same shop, with a median of €7.99 across 27 packs from two shops. Per kilogram the price runs from €5 for a 5 kg perennial ryegrass mix to €9.49 for 1 kg of Turfline Grass Fix, with a median of €6.40.

Grass seed at KIPS
At KIPS the searches for trava and travna smjesa returned 21 lawn seed mixes, with a median of €7.99 per pack and €6 per kilogram. Ordinary 1 kg mixes cost from €5.50 for perennial ryegrass and €5.70 for sunny and shady areas to €5.99 for easy care and sports fields and €6.50 for a drought resistant mix, and English grass €5.80.
In a 5 kg pack perennial ryegrass costs €24.99, mixes for sunny and shady areas €25.99 each, for sports fields €27.99 and the drought resistant mix €29.99. Turfline Turbo, Sunshine, Sport, Waterless and Shadow of 1 kg cost €7.99 each, Grass Fix €9.49, and Turfline Sunshine and Ornamental of 7.5 kg €49.99 each. Masterline Sportmaster of 10 kg costs €94.99.
Grass seed on Ananas
On Ananas the search for seme trave returned 6 packs, with a median of €6.85. Greenline decor of 1 kg costs €5.60, Valentin Sunny €5.90, Semenarna Ljubljana Osoja €6.75, and Semenarna Ljubljana Mediteran and the Shadow & Fun mix €6.95 each. Mediteran of 5 kg costs €32. At Okov the searches for sjeme trave, seme trave and travna smjesa returned no seed, only lawn tools and artificial grass.
Which mix to choose
For a sunny yard choose a mix for sunny areas or a drought resistant one, because on the coast grass burns quickly in summer without watering. For a shady part of the yard under trees take a mix for shady areas, and for a playing field or a lawn that gets a lot of foot traffic a sports mix with more perennial ryegrass, which germinates quickly and tolerates trampling. Easy care mixes grow more slowly, so they need mowing less often.
A kilogram in a 5 kg pack is cheaper than in a 1 kg pack: the median is €5.40 versus €6.63 per kg. The pack states how many grams you need per m², so work out the amount before buying and take a little extra for overseeding. First clear the soil of weeds and stones, dig or loosen it and level it, sow the seed crosswise, rake it in lightly, roll it and water with a fine spray until the grass comes up. The first mowing is when the grass reaches the height of a hand.

What the EU requires for marketing grass seed
Council Directive 66/401/EEC on the marketing of fodder plant seed provides in Article 3 that seed of species such as red fescue, ryegrass and cocksfoot may not be placed on the market unless it has been officially certified as basic or certified seed and meets the conditions of Annex II. Article 9 requires packages to be officially sealed so that the seal is damaged when the package is opened, and Article 10 requires an official label in a colour that depends on the category of seed.
Article 13 allows mixtures of seed of different species to be marketed, provided each component complied with the rules that apply to it before blending, and the label for a mixture is green. Montenegro is not an EU member, but a sealed pack with a label, the mix composition and a best before date is the best guarantee that the seed will germinate.

At Okov we found no grass seed, and we did not count artificial grass or cat grass. We did not measure germination or the composition of the mixes.
