Garden and Lawn Irrigation in Montenegro: Prices of Drip Systems, Sprinklers and Timers (2026)

A drip irrigation hose with emitters every 33 cm cost €19.99 for 50 m and €37.90 for 100 m at Okov on 26 September 2026, a Claber pop-up sprinkler from €5.49, and an irrigation timer from €12.50 at KIPS to €127.90 for the two-outlet Claber Duplo. By our calculation an hour of irrigation with 100 m of such hose uses about 0.64 m³ of water, which at ViK Podgorica rates comes to about €0.51 excluding VAT.

What people search for

On 26 September 2026 Google completed navodnjavanje crna gora (irrigation Montenegro) with sistemi za navodnjavanje crna gora (irrigation systems Montenegro), tajmer za navodnjavanje crna gora (irrigation timer Montenegro) and navodnjavanje kap po kap. crna gora (drip irrigation Montenegro), and navodnjavanje okov with crijevo (hose), tajmer (timer), pumpe (pumps) and sistem za navodnjavanje okov. With kap po kap okov (drip Okov) it offered crevo (hose), sistem and traka kap po kap okov (drip tape Okov), and with prskalice za travu (lawn sprinklers) okov, crna gora and prskalice za travu koje izlaze iz zemlje (sprinklers that rise out of the ground). In Google Trends for Montenegro, navodnjavanje did not have enough searches for a curve. In English and Russian Google offered no suggestions.

Drip hoses

Drip irrigation waters the plant's roots without wetting leaves and paths. Okov sells hoses with built-in emitters and ready-made kits, and KIPS and Ananas sell hose without emitters and single drippers. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

Per metre, the 100 m emitter hose costs €0.38 and the 400 m roll €0.31, so the bigger roll only pays off for a larger orchard or garden.

Lawn sprinklers

Lawns are watered with hose-end sprinklers or with pop-up sprinklers, which rise out of the ground under water pressure and sink back afterwards. On 26 September 2026 a sprinkler search at KIPS returned 94 products, mostly garden sprinklers, and Okov had Claber and Bradas sprinklers:

Timers and controllers

A tap timer opens and closes the water on schedule, and a controller with solenoid valves runs several zones. Multi-zone controllers are sold by Ananas:

For the hose itself, Claber reel sets cost from €21.90 for the balcony set with 10 m to €134.90 for the Rotoroll Evolution with 20 m, and Okov also sells a four-way Claber water distributor for €19.99.

What the water costs

Under the ViK Podgorica price list for households, a cubic metre costs €0.8009 excluding VAT: water €0.46, sewerage €0.1889 and treatment €0.152. This is our calculation at those prices:

• Drip, 100 m of hose: about 303 emitters at 2.1 l/h give 0.64 m³ an hour, about €0.51 excluding VAT.
• Four pop-up sprinklers at 6 l/min, half an hour: 0.72 m³, about €0.58 excluding VAT.
• Difference: drip irrigation uses less water in an hour than four sprinklers in half an hour, and gives it only to the plants.

Example: a vegetable patch and a lawn

This is our equipment calculation based on prices of 26 September 2026:

• Vegetable patch with drip: 50 m hose €19.99, Claber Aquauno Practico timer €46.90, quick connector €3.29 and tap adapter €3.69, €73.87 in total.
• Small lawn with four pop-up sprinklers: sprinklers at €6.29 each, €25.16 in total, without the buried pipes and controller.
• Difference: drip for a vegetable patch is laid on the surface, while pipes for pop-up sprinklers go into the ground, so for a lawn digging is extra work not counted here.

What to ask before installation

1. What the water pressure and flow are at the tap or pressure tank.
2. How many zones are needed and how many sprinklers per zone.
3. Whether the controller runs on mains power or batteries.
4. Who lays the pipes in the ground and whether digging is included.
5. How the system is drained before winter so the pipes do not crack.

What we did not measure

Prices come from three shops on the day we read them; we found no published price per m² for installing an irrigation system in Montenegro. Water use is calculated from the nominal flow of emitters and sprinklers, and actual use depends on pressure and hose length.
