Fertiliser in Montenegro: prices of liquid, granular, water soluble and organic fertiliser, sticks and 25 kg bags of NPK, CAN and urea, Substral and Yara (2026)

On 29 September 2026 fertiliser costs from €0.45 for a 20 g sachet of water soluble fertiliser on Ananas to €59 for a 25 kg bag of water soluble Agro Ferticare on the same site, with a median of €5.99 across 155 fertilisers from two shops. Liquid fertiliser for flowers has a median of €4.30, mineral fertiliser in 25 kg bags €21.50, or about €0.86 per kg, and organic manure about €0.55 per kg.

What people search for

In Google Trends for Montenegro, over the 12 months to 28 September 2026, the term djubrivo (fertiliser) had a low average interest, with a peak in the week of 19 July 2026 and just 3 points in the week of 20 September. By region it was searched most in Podgorica, with 100 points, and Ulcinj, with 39.

On 28 September 2026 Google completed djubrivo with za cvece (for flowers), za travu (for grass), u granulama (granular), za orhideje (for orchids) and od koprive (from nettles), and vestacko djubrivo (mineral fertiliser) with cijena (price), za povrce (for vegetables), za paradajz (for tomatoes), za ruze (for roses) and kan cena (CAN price). So people look for fertiliser for flowers, grass and vegetables, CAN and homemade nettle fertiliser.

Fertilisers at KIPS

At KIPS the search for đubrivo returned 45 fertilisers, with a median of €7.50. Urea with 46 % nitrogen in a 25 kg bag costs €23.20, CAN with 27 % nitrogen €15.90, Complex 15-15-15 €20.50 and Elixir Zorka NPK 6-12-24 €21.50, 8-15-15 €15.70 and 6-24-12 €17.99. In small packs, 2 kg of urea costs €1.99, 3 kg of CAN €2.80 and 3 kg of Complex €3.30.

Tercomposti Stallatico organic manure costs €8.99 for 25 kg and Pollina €10.70 for 25 kg, while both cost €5.50 each for 10 kg. For the garden, Substral for roses, for conifers and hedges and for gardens and vegetables of 1.2 kg costs €8.49 each, Osmocote of 750 g €9.79 each, and a 2 kg lawn fertiliser €15.49 and Substral lawn fertiliser of 2 kg €16.35. Liquid Substral universal costs €2.99 for 250 ml, €4.80 for 500 ml and €7.50 for 1 l, and Substral sticks of 20 pieces €2.99.

Fertilisers on Ananas

Ananas had 110 fertilisers, with a median of €5.92. Yara Mila in 25 kg bags costs from €27 to €29.90, and Plantella for olives of 25 kg €15, the cheapest kilogram of mineral fertiliser in both shops. Chicken manure and horse and cattle manure of 25 kg cost €9 each.

Water soluble Yara Kristalon costs €2.80 for 1 kg and €53 for 25 kg, and Nika Fert of 10 kg from €24 to €39. Plantella liquid fertilisers of 1 l cost €3.10, Substral universal of 1000 ml €7.19 and Substral for roses of 1 kg €5.93. Plantella lawn fertiliser costs €9.95 for 3 kg and €15 for 5 kg, and Substral sticks of 20 pieces €2.70, so less than at KIPS.

Which fertiliser to choose

The three numbers on the bag, for example 15-15-15, give the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen drives leaves and grass, phosphorus roots and flowering, and potassium fruit and resistance. For lawns and leafy vegetables choose a fertiliser with more nitrogen, for flowers, tomatoes and fruit more phosphorus and potassium. CAN and urea are straight nitrogen fertilisers for top dressing during growth, while NPK is a base fertiliser applied before planting or in spring.

For pots and balconies the easiest is a liquid fertiliser added to the watering water or a stick pushed into the soil. Osmocote and similar slow release fertilisers feed the plant for several months. Manure improves soil structure but contains fewer nutrients, so more of it is needed. A 25 kg pack pays off only for a larger vegetable garden or orchard, because a kilogram in small packs costs several times more.

What the EU requires for nitrates and manure

Council Directive 91/676/EEC on the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources lists in Annex I, as one criterion for affected waters, groundwater with more than 50 mg/l nitrates. Annex II A says that a code of good agricultural practice should cover the periods when applying fertiliser is inappropriate, applying fertiliser to steeply sloping ground, applying it to water saturated, flooded, frozen or snow covered ground and applying it near water courses.

Annex III requires that in vulnerable zones the amount of livestock manure applied to the land each year does not exceed the amount containing 170 kg nitrogen per hectare. Montenegro is not an EU member, but the same rules apply to a garden: fertilise according to what the plant needs, do not fertilise before heavy rain and keep fertiliser and manure away from wells.

2. Form: liquid, granular, water soluble or sticks.
3. Release: fast or slow acting.
4. Pack size: the price per kilogram or litre.
5. Instructions: the dose and interval between two applications.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied the prices from KIPS and Ananas on the day of the check and calculated the price per kilogram from the weight in the name; the medians are ours. At Okov the search for đubrivo returned no fertilisers. We did not count growing media, wetting agents or plant protection products. We did not measure the composition of the fertilisers or how they act on plants.
