Rakes in Montenegro: prices of garden rakes, leaf rakes, olive rakes and lawn scarifying rakes at Okov, KIPS and on Ananas (2026)

The median is €8.79 across 31 rakes at Okov, €10.80 across 27 at KIPS and €6.23 across 18 on Ananas. A leaf rake with a handle costs from €5.20 on Ananas to €31.90 for a Fiskars at Okov.

So people search for a tool for a precise job, from leaves and grass to hay, and a comb rake for picking blueberries.

Rakes at Okov

At Okov the searches for grablje and grabulje returned 31 rakes, not counting a separate 1700 mm handle at €4.49 and a hand tool set. Garden rakes with a handle cost €12.90 with 14 teeth, €13.99 with 16 and €15.99 with 18 teeth, and without a handle €6.99 with 14 and €9.90 with 18 teeth. A Slovakia Trend with 12 teeth and a handle costs €7.99, and plastic ones with 18 teeth €1.99 without a handle and €6.99 with one.

Leaf rakes with a handle cost €14.99, an Ausonia with 27 teeth and a width of 60 cm €7.99, and an Ausonia with a telescopic handle from 80 to 140 cm €15.99. The Fiskars Solid L of 52 cm costs €24.90 and the Solid XL of 65 cm €31.90. A Wolf Garten leaf rake head without a handle costs €28.90, and Black&Decker hand mini rakes with three tines €1.99.

Rakes at KIPS and on Ananas

At KIPS the search for grabulje returned 27 rakes, not counting a handle and a rake-shovel. Garden rakes with a 130 cm handle cost €9.70 with 16 and €9.99 with 18 teeth, and reinforced ones with 16 teeth €13.20. Metal leaf rakes with a 120 cm handle cost €9.99 instead of €12.40, galvanised 130 cm ones €12.90, and the adjustable Natureline €36.99. Scarifying rakes cost €22.49 and €34.99, and children's rakes from €2.99 to €5.20.

On Ananas the search for grablje returned 18 rakes. A Papillon metal rake with 18 teeth and a 180 cm wooden handle costs €11.65, with 16 teeth and a 150 cm handle €10.67, and with 12 teeth and a 130 cm handle €11.74. A Maurer metal rake with 18 teeth costs €6.50, a Springer leaf rake with a handle €5.20, and a Hebei with 12 teeth €1.65.

Olive rakes

In autumn, when the olive harvest starts, people also look for plastic olive rakes, used to comb the fruit off the branches onto a net. A Papillon with 9 teeth costs €0.85 on Ananas, a plastic one with 9 teeth €2.25 at KIPS, and the same kind with a 130 cm handle €8.65. Plastic teeth do not strip the bark or bruise the fruit the way metal ones do.

Which rake for which job

A garden rake with short, rigid metal teeth is for levelling soil, breaking up clods and preparing a bed before sowing, and more teeth mean a flatter surface. A leaf rake has a wide fan of flexible plastic or steel teeth that gather leaves and grass clippings rather than digging into the lawn. A scarifying rake has sharp blades that pull out moss and dead grass so the lawn breathes better.

The handle should reach roughly to your chin, because a handle that is too short strains your back. A telescopic handle suits a household where several people use the rake, and a click system shares one handle across several heads. Hand mini rakes are for pots and beds next to the house. What the EU says about garden bio-waste

In Article 3 point 4, Directive 2008/98/EC on waste counts biodegradable garden and park waste, including leaves and grass clippings, as bio-waste. In Article 22 it asks states to encourage separate collection of bio-waste for composting, treatment that gives a high level of environmental protection, and the use of environmentally safe materials produced from bio-waste.

Montenegro is not an EU member, but you can compost raked leaves and grass yourself in a corner of the yard instead of burning them. Do not put diseased leaves and fruit into compost.

What to check before buying

1. The job: soil, leaves, olives or moss.
2. Teeth: rigid for soil, flexible for leaves, plastic for olives.
3. Width: a wider head gathers leaves faster on flat ground.
4. Handle: up to your chin, wooden, metal or telescopic.
5. Joint: the head must not slip on the handle.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from Okov, KIPS and Ananas on the day we read them, with the pre-discount price where shown; the medians are ours. At Okov we merged two searches and removed the handle and the tool set, at KIPS the handle and the rake-shovel, and on Ananas a shovel-and-rake set. We did not measure how long the teeth last on stony ground.
