Getting Rid of Old Furniture in Montenegro: Free Recycling Yards, Bulky Waste Collection Prices and Budva's Summer Ban (2026)

In Podgorica you can leave old furniture for free at Čistoća's six recycling yards, on weekdays from 7am to 9pm and on Saturdays from 7am to 5pm; if you want Čistoća to take it away from your property, its price list of 21 March 2024 charges private individuals €35 for up to 2 m³, excluding VAT. In Budva, Komunalno collects bulky waste free of charge, on request on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 1 June to 1 October a ban on leaving bulky waste applies.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google completed odvoz starog namjestaja (old furniture removal) first with podgorica and then with niksic. People also search for reciklažno dvorište podgorica (recycling yard Podgorica), completed with tolosi, and kabasti otpad budva (bulky waste Budva). English and Russian searches for furniture removal in Montenegro returned no suggestions.

Podgorica: free at a recycling yard

On its page about recycling yards Čistoća lists six yards: on Iva Vizina Street in Zabjelo, on Mihaila Lalića Boulevard in Tološi, on Husinskih rudara Street in Konik, on Orijenska Street in Zlatica, on Kritskog odreda Street in Donja Gorica and in Goričani in Zeta. Dropping off is free, and the yards have large containers for green and bulky waste.

The same yards also have containers for white goods, electronic waste, wood waste, metal, polystyrene, tyres, flat glass, waste paint and varnish, old car batteries and household batteries, and old medicines. A fridge, cooker or washing machine therefore does not go into the mixed-waste bin but to a yard.

In June 2024 Čistoća also explained a second option: crews with tipper trucks and machines tour parts of the city, and residents can bring bulky or green waste to where the machines are, by arrangement with the foreman. The dispatch service is on 067/207-720. This is also free, but the crews do not go door to door.

Podgorica: paid collection from private property

Čistoća removes waste only from public spaces and has no obligation to remove it from private property. Anyone who wants waste taken away from their yard or from in front of their house submits a written request, at the registry office at Zetskih vladara 4 or by email. The prices are in the price list for services on special request; how we choose and label price sources is explained on our page on how we measure prices.

Budva: free collection on request

Komunalno Budva offers free pick-up and removal of bulky waste on request. In a notice published on 3 October 2025 and updated on 29 July 2026, it says residents can book it on Tuesdays and Thursdays on 033 452 512 and 033 452 562. In a reminder carried by Primorske novine on 11 September 2025, the company asked people not to throw bulky waste, building materials and old furniture into mixed-waste containers, because this directly damages the municipal vehicles.

Under the Decision on Municipal Order, a ban on leaving bulky waste applies in Budva from 1 June to 1 October. If you are replacing furniture in summer, arrange collection in advance or leave it until October.

Bar and Ulcinj: disposal at Možura

The Možura regional landfill, serving Bar and Ulcinj, publishes its disposal prices. Bulky waste, which it defines as furniture, mattresses, sofas, tables, chairs and white goods, costs €0.029 per kilogram, or €28.89 per tonne. Metal is accepted free, construction waste costs €4.33 per tonne and excavated soil and stone €0.73 per tonne. From 1 July to 1 October 2026 the landfill is open to residents on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 3.30pm.

What it costs: three examples

This is our calculation from the published prices, not a quote:

• A sofa and two armchairs, Podgorica, you drive them yourself: recycling yard, €0.
• The same furniture, Čistoća collects it from your property: up to 2 m³ €35, with 21% VAT €42.35; if 7% applies, €37.45.
• About 150 kg of furniture, you drive it to Možura yourself: 150 × €0.029 = €4.35.

Who helps on Glatko

On 25 September 2026 Glatko had three verified single-item movers, two in Podgorica and one in Herceg Novi; two of them also work in English. None of the 25 requests the platform received between 24 April and 28 June 2026 concerned furniture removal. Invoices from Čistoća and from a registered mover go through the Tax Administration's electronic fiscalisation system.

What we did not measure

We did not check the rules for bulky waste in Nikšić, Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi, how long you wait for Čistoća's collection, or whether the 2024 drive with machines touring parts of the city is still running. For Budva we did not find how much waste one call covers, and for Možura whether the per-kilogram price applies to residents or only to companies. The price list does not state the VAT rate for bulky waste collection separately, so we give both possible rates.
