Concrete Pavers (Behaton) in Montenegro: Price per m², Kerbs, Laying and the Bill for a 40 m² Yard (2026)

A behaton concrete slab at KIPS on 26 September 2026 costs €34.04 per m² for the white Lux slab 40 × 40 × 4 cm and €43.43 per m² for the Trend-Roma watercolour slab, and a kerb costs €3.37 to €21.33 per piece. A Montenegrin house-building blog in January 2024 listed slabs at €12 to €22 per m² and laying at €13 to €14 per m². By our calculation, a 40 m² path with excavation, soil removal, slabs and laying comes to €1,096 to €1,592.

What people search for

On 26 September 2026 Google completed behaton with behaton ploce cijena (behaton slab price), behaton ploce cena po m2 (price per m²), behaton ploce podgorica, behaton kocke (behaton blocks) and behaton ploce crna gora, and behaton cijena with behaton cijena crna gora and cijena behaton ploca crna gora. Sizes are searched too, behaton ploce 40x40 and behaton ploce 30x30 cena, as is behaton kocke podgorica. In Google Trends for Montenegro the query behaton ploce cena po m2 is marked as rising over the last 12 months.

Slabs and kerbs at KIPS

KIPS sells two behaton slabs priced per m² and six kerbs per piece. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

Garden kerbs are thin, 5 and 8 cm, while the 80 cm kerbs are 18 to 20 cm thick and 24 cm high, which is why they cost several times more.

An example from a building blog

On the blog Moj povratak na selo, the costs of the pavement around one house were published on 23 January 2024. It is one example, not a price list, but a rare record with Montenegrin prices:

• Slab: €12 to €22 per m², depending on whether it is cast or pressed and whether it is coloured.
• Laying: about €13 to €14 per m², including transport, gravel as a base and sand for jointing.
• Garden kerb: €6 to €10 per metre, with fitting at €8 to €11.
• Excavator: €50 to €60 per working hour, one to two days to prepare the ground.

Vibro-pressed slabs were chosen for that house, and the post says cast slabs are a cheaper option that also does the job.

Preparing the base

The base is the biggest part of the job you do not see: excavation, hardcore, gravel and sand. Gradjevina.org, in its price list modified on 3 September 2026, gives shallow excavation up to 20 cm at €10 to €14 per m³, a mini excavator with operator at €40 to €60 an hour and removal by lorry at €2 to €5 per m³, plus the landfill fee. The bill for a 40 m² path

This is our own calculation, with slabs at the prices from the blog example and the base at Gradjevina.org's price list:

• Excavation to 20 cm: 40 m² × 0.2 m = 8 m³, at €10 to €14 = €80 to €112.
• Soil removal: 8 m³ at €2 to €5 = €16 to €40, without the landfill fee.
• Slabs: 40 m² at €12 to €22 = €480 to €880.
• Laying: 40 m² at €13 to €14 = €520 to €560.
• Total: €1,096 to €1,592, or €27.40 to €39.80 per m², without kerbs.

With the white Lux slab from KIPS, the slabs alone for 40 m² cost 40 × €34.04 = €1,361.60, so the choice of slab moves the bill most.

Second-hand blocks from an ad

On oglasi.me a seller from Bar offered behaton blocks at €0.25 each, noting that 33 blocks fit in a m² and that there are just over 800 pieces. That is €8.25 per m², and 800 blocks cover about 24 m². Second-hand blocks need cleaning of old mortar and checking for cracks, and a 40 m² path needs more of them than one seller has.

On 26 September 2026 Glatko had one verified contractor in the garden and pool category, from Podgorica, and there were no paving requests. For rough work in the yard you can also send a request to construction contractors.

What to check before paving

1. Whether the slab is cast or pressed, because it changes the price and the load capacity.
2. Whether the laying price includes transport, gravel and jointing sand.
3. How deep the excavation goes and how much hardcore goes underneath.
4. The fall of the path away from the house, so water does not run towards the foundations.
5. Kerbs, which hold the slabs in place.
6. The plot boundary, if you go up to the neighbour.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied slab and kerb prices from KIPS on the day we read them, labour and material prices from one blog example published in 2024 and Gradjevina.org's 2026 earthworks price list, and calculated the 40 m² bill and the price of second-hand blocks ourselves. We did not measure the prices of concrete product manufacturers, as we found none published, nor the price of hardcore and gravel per m³.
