The cheapest is the Artex Berlimo Black Globe at €4.99, then the plastic Curver 45x38 cm at €5.49 and €5.99 and a 5five 30x40 cm sink rack at €7.49. A 5five rack with a mat costs €10.99, and a Starax 400x235x270 mm €14.90 instead of €19.90.
Starax racks with a drip tray cost €16.90 for 60 cm and €21.90 for 80 cm, and a Starax with hooks €24.90 instead of €34.90. The Estia Allure costs €24.90, Zeller racks from €25.90 to €44.90, the 5five Mayaj €34.90, and the Eko Regal €29.90 instead of €42.90. The most expensive are Brabantia SinkSide models: €42.90 instead of €64.90, €47.90 instead of €69.90, €49.90 for beige and dark grey, and the folding one €59.90.
Dish racks at KIPS and on Ananas
At KIPS the search for ocjedjivac returned 13 results, of which 11 dish racks. Plastic Gondol racks cost €4.72 for the Slide and €6.17 for the Experto and Mia. OSCAR racks with a drip tray cost from €21.65 for 60 cm to €24.49 for 80 cm in aluminium, the M6040 in black and chrome €26.79 each, and the hanging M6043 €32.29 in chrome and €35.45 in black.
On Ananas the searches returned only two offers: a Fisher BR 51 at €28.90 from the seller Tehno Plus and a 48x36 cm dish stand at €15.98 from the seller Rocky Pistolato.
How to choose a dish rack
A plastic rack is cheap and light, but limescale and mould build up on it faster, so it needs washing. Chrome and stainless steel racks last longer, and those with a drip tray and spout send water straight into the sink, so the worktop stays dry. A two-tier rack saves worktop space, and a wall rack above the sink leaves the worktop completely free, but it requires drilling the tiles.
Measure the space next to the sink before buying and check whether the rack has a holder for cutlery and glasses. If you wash by hand for two, a smaller rack is enough, while for a family or an apartment with several guests a larger two-tier rack or a dishwasher is better. When choosing between a rack and a dishwasher, compare water use too, because hand washing under a running tap easily drags on. Let washed dishes air-dry, and change the drying cloth often, because bacteria multiply quickly in a damp cloth.
What the EU requires on a dishwasher label
In Article 4, Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2017 on energy labelling of dishwashers requires dealers to ensure that every dishwasher at the point of sale bears the energy label, and that in distance selling the label and product information sheet are provided. Annex III states that the label shows the eco programme water consumption in litres per cycle, energy consumption per 100 cycles and the number of place settings.
