On 29 September 2026 hand screwdrivers cost from €0.99 for a Raxx PZ0 screwdriver at Okov to €64.90 for a Wiha LiftUp VDE with six bits in the handle, with a median of €4.99 across 289 screwdrivers and sets from two shops. A single screwdriver has a median of €3.19, an insulated VDE 1000 V one €3.49, a set €16.49 and a VDE set €24.90. A tester screwdriver costs from €0.89 to €5.19.

Below are prices by type and shop, which screwdriver to pick for which job, and who is liable under the new EU rules when a defective tool injures someone.
What people search for
On 29 September 2026 Google Trends showed zero for odvijač (screwdriver) in Montenegro in the weeks displayed over the past 12 months, so search volume is too small to measure.
On the same day Google completed odvijac with the phrases na baterije (cordless), srafova (for screws), za tockove (for wheels), parkside and lidl, and odvijaci set (screwdriver set) with the names wiha, wera, unior, knipex and parkside and the words precizni (precision), torx and električarski (electrician's). By screwdriver people often mean a cordless tool, and for hand screwdrivers they look for sets from well-known brands. At Okov hand screwdrivers are listed as šrafciger.

Screwdrivers at Okov
At Okov we took 113 screwdrivers, sets and testers from eight searches, with a median of €6.14 without testers. Single Raxx screwdrivers cost from €0.99 to €3.10, Hoegert from €1.49 to €1.99, Unior from €2.19 to €5.39, Bahco from €3.49 to €3.99, and Bosch €8.99 and €10.90. VDE screwdrivers cost from €2.00 to €4.50 for Hoegert, from €4.99 to €8.49 for Unior and from €4.99 to €6.99 for Bahco.
Sets cost €5.99, €7.99 and €11.99 for Total with four, six and eight pieces, €14.90 and €16.99 for Hoegert, from €18.49 to €26.50 for Unior, from €7.99 to €36.50 for Bahco and €39.90 for Bosch. VDE sets cost from €11.99 for a two-piece Bahco to €54.90 for Wiha, and Unior with a tester €23.90 and €31.50. Bit screwdrivers cost from €2.99 to €9.99 for Total, and the Wiha PocketMax €34.90. A tester screwdriver costs €0.99 and €1.49 for Total and €2.29 and €3.19 for the VDE model.
Screwdrivers at KIPS
At KIPS we took 183 screwdrivers, sets and testers from five searches, with a median of €3.69 without testers. MTX screwdrivers cost from €1.05 to €3.19, magnetic Ingco from €1.19 to €3.49, Gross from €2.89 to €7.19, Makita from €4.79 to €9.69, and Forch from €9.19 to €18.79. Ingco VDE screwdrivers cost from €1.59 to €2.69.
Sets cost €4.99 for a six-piece Ingco, €19.90 for 18 and €28.99 for 100 pieces, from €12.29 to €24.90 for Gross and €34.90 for a 47-piece Makita. Ingco VDE sets cost from €12.90 to €49.90, precision sets from €1.69 to €11.79, and Ingco testers €0.89 and €1.09.
Which screwdriver to choose
For the home two flat and two Phillips screwdrivers are enough, for example flat 3 and 5.5 mm and Phillips PH1 and PH2, or a six-piece set. Phillips PH and Pozidriv PZ are not the same: PZ has extra notches and is used for most wood screws and wall plugs, and PH for fittings and electronics. Torx is increasingly found on furniture, appliances and cars.
For work on sockets and switches take a VDE screwdriver marked 1000 V, but always switch off the breaker first. A tester screwdriver shows whether a wire is live, but it is not a reliable tester, so electricians use a two-pole tester to check that there is no voltage. A bit screwdriver replaces a whole set in one handle, and a precision set is for glasses, phones and small electronics.

Who is liable for a defective tool under the new EU rules
Directive (EU) 2024/2853 on liability for defective products applies, under Article 2, to products placed on the market after 9 December 2026. Article 5 gives a right to compensation to anyone who suffers damage caused by a defective product, and Article 6 lists as damage death and personal injury and damage to other property, but not the defective product itself.
Under Article 7 a product is defective when it does not provide the safety a person is entitled to expect, taking into account its labelling, use and instructions. A claim must be brought within three years of learning of the damage under Article 16, and at the latest ten years after the product was placed on the market under Article 17. Montenegro is not an EU member, but a tool with a clear manufacturer and markings is easier to claim for if it breaks and injures someone.

What to check before buying
- Tip: flat, PH, PZ or Torx to match the screws.
- Material: chrome-vanadium or S2 steel.
- Insulation: VDE and 1000 V marking for electrical work.
- Handle: two-component, so it does not slip in the hand.
- Magnet: a tip that holds the screw.
How we measured and what we did not measure
We copied prices from Okov and KIPS on the day of the check; the medians are ours. We did not count cordless, electric and pneumatic screwdrivers, loose bits or signal lamps for consumer units. Type and insulation were taken from product names, and sets with bits were counted as bit screwdrivers. We did not measure tip hardness or test the insulation.
