Safes in Montenegro: Prices of Home, Hotel, Fire-Resistant, Gun and Key Safes at Okov and KIPS and What the Law Requires (2026)
On 26 September 2026 a safe in Montenegro costs from €24.99 for a small electronic safe at KIPS, and a 200 x 310 x 200 mm digital safe from €44.90 at KIPS and €49.90 at Okov. Hotel safes start at €59.90 on sale at Okov, a key safe costs €19.90, and gun safes €229 to €389 at KIPS. The Law on Weapons requires firearms to be kept locked in a metal cabinet, safe or similar storage, with a fine of €30 to €500.

A safe of the same size differs from shop to shop: the 200 x 310 x 200 mm digital safe is €5 cheaper at KIPS than the cheapest at Okov, and the 250 x 350 x 250 mm one €14 cheaper. Weight matters as much as price, because a light safe that is not anchored can simply be carried off.
Code, key or fingerprint
A digital safe opens with a code and runs on batteries, so it usually comes with a spare key in case the batteries run flat. A key-lock safe has no battery, but the key has to be kept outside the house or in a hidden place. A fingerprint safe opens fastest, and at Okov costs from €89.90 for a SafeX of 250 x 350 x 250 mm. What the Law on Weapons says
Under Article 34 of the Law on Weapons, weapons and ammunition must be kept so that they are not accessible to anyone not authorised to possess them, especially minors, locked and separated in a metal cabinet, safe or similar storage, in the owner's flat or other premises at their place of residence. For an individual who does not store weapons this way, Article 107 sets a fine of €30 to €500. A gun safe for 3 pieces at KIPS is therefore cheaper than the maximum fine.
A safe in an apartment and a hotel
An in-room hotel safe is not the same as leaving valuables at reception. RoNa Legal explains in its article on accommodation liability for guests' property that a notice in which the hotel disclaims responsibility for valuables has no legal effect, and that the liability cap disappears once the hotel accepts an item for safekeeping. - Fire resistance, if you keep paper documents.
- For weapons: a safe or metal cabinet that locks, as the law requires.

We copied prices from Okov and KIPS on the day we read them, and compared the same sizes ourselves. The calculation for holiday-let owners is our own. We did not check the burglary rating or fire resistance of individual models, and the price of installing a safe is not published.
