Replacing a Lock Cylinder in Montenegro: Prices of 95 Cylinders, How to Measure One and When to Choose a Security Cylinder (2026)

On 25 September 2026 a lock cylinder at Okov cost €3.49 to €33.90. A standard AGB cylinder was €7.49 to €12.90, with a median of €8.99 across 45 models, an AGB 5000 PS security cylinder €16.90 to €30.90, and a security cylinder with a thumb turn on the inside €24.90 to €33.90. As far as we could find, no locksmith in Montenegro publishes a labour price for replacing a cylinder.

Cylinder prices at Okov

Okov had 95 products in its Cylinders category, most of them AGB. We grouped them by type; we explain how we choose and label price sources in how we measure prices.

AGB 5000 PS security cylinders come with five keys, and IBFM 2300/N cylinders with three. The cheapest cylinders, Avers by Apecs, cost €3.49 to €4.49, while the cheapest standard AGB was €7.49.

How to measure a cylinder

A cylinder is measured from the middle, from the hole for the screw that fixes it in the lock, to each end. A marking of 30/30 means 30 mm on one side and 30 mm on the other, 60 mm in total, and 30/50 means 80 mm, with the longer part facing in or out. So measure both sides of the old lock, not just the total length.

The usual advice is that a cylinder should not stick out much from the door fittings, because the protruding part is easier to break; if it is too short, the key will not go in properly. Most common sizes, from 30/30 to 50/50, were also available at Okov as security versions.

How the price rises with length

For standard AGB cylinders marked NI the price follows length: 60 mm, 30/30, cost €8.99, 90 mm €9.49 to €9.90, 100 mm €10.90 and 120 mm, 60/60, €12.90. Versions marked MS were cheaper than NI versions of the same size: for 60 mm €7.49 against €8.99.

The type makes a bigger difference than the length. For the same 30/30 size the range was:

• Avers, Apecs: €3.49.
• Standard AGB, MS: €7.49.
• Standard AGB, NI: €8.99.
• With a turn wheel, AGB: €14.90.
• AGB 5000 PS security: €16.90.
• AGB 5000 security with thumb turn: €24.90.

So seven times as much for a security cylinder with a thumb turn as for the cheapest cylinder of the same size.

A thumb turn on the inside

A cylinder with a thumb turn instead of a key on the inside lets you lock and unlock the door from inside without a key, which helps when leaving in an emergency. At Okov such security cylinders cost €24.90 to €33.90, and at the median about €5.50 more than security cylinders without one. For the 30/60 size the difference was €8: €32.90 with a thumb turn against €24.90 without.

When to change the lock too

If the key turns but the latch does not move, the problem is not the cylinder but the lock in the door leaf. Okov had 146 products in its Locks category; among the first 32 it shows, an AGB lock for a cylinder, 65 mm, cost €4.69, and a Cisa lock for armoured doors €59. Armoured doors have their own lock and cylinder, so leave their replacement to a fitter who knows the model.

Replacing it after buying or moving in

When you buy or rent a flat, you do not know how many keys of the previous owner or tenant are still with other people, so replacing the cylinder is the cheapest protection: a security cylinder at Okov starts at €16.90. When buying, another rule applies too: getting the keys does not mean the flat is yours, because ownership passes only on registration in the cadastre, as Fijaka explains in its guide to checking ownership.
