At KIPS we took 55 clamps from five searches; the median is €9.90. Plastic spring clamps cost €0.55 for 3 inches, €0.99 for 4 inches and €1.49 for 6 inches. S and F clamps cost from €3.59 to €24.90, and Ingco F clamps from €4.59 for 150 mm to €38.90 for 1200 mm with a force of 550 kg.
Ingco quick clamps cost from €4.79 to €21.90, and Gross quick clamps from €32.90 to €49.90. Ingco metalworking clamps from 75 to 200 mm cost from €6.79 to €16.99, a frame clamp €3.79, and bench vices from €17.90 for a 60 mm Ingco, through €44.90 for a 125 mm Sparta, to €139.90 for a 200 mm Ingco. An 80 mm Maurer drill vice costs €29.90.
Which clamp to choose
A spring clamp is for light jobs, gluing thin mouldings and holding film, because it clamps weakly. A one-handed clamp is tightened with one hand while the other holds the piece, so it is the most practical for furniture assembly; some also convert into a spreader. An F clamp clamps harder and holds longer, and its capacity and depth, for example 300 x 80 mm, tell you how wide a piece it can take and how far from the edge.
A G clamp is made of cast iron or steel and is for metal and welding, because it takes more force. A corner clamp holds two pieces at a right angle for frames and drawers, a pipe clamp uses an ordinary water pipe as its bar so it can be extended, and a bench vice is fixed to a workbench and holds a piece while you file, cut or drill it.

How many clamps you need
When gluing a panel or frame, clamps are placed 20 to 30 cm apart, alternately from above and below, so the panel does not bow. A 60 cm drawer or frame needs at least four clamps, so it pays to buy clamps in pairs or sets. Put a piece of board or cardboard between the jaws and the wood so the clamp leaves no mark, and do not tighten so much that all the glue is squeezed out of the joint.
What new EU rules require on a glue label
Wood glues classified as hazardous, for example polyurethane glues with isocyanates, carry a label under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, and Regulation (EU) 2024/2865 amended that regulation. Under its Article 2, part of the changes apply from 1 July 2026, including the rule that a distance-sales offer, online too, must clearly and visibly show the label elements.
From 1 January 2027 minimum letter sizes on the label also apply: an x-height of at least 1.2 mm for packages up to 0.5 litres and 1.4 mm for packages from 0.5 to 3 litres. Montenegro is not an EU member, but glues from the EU arrive with such labels; read them before work and work in a ventilated room.

How we measured and what we did not
We copied prices from Okov and KIPS on the day of the check; we calculated the medians ourselves. We did not count electrical and terminal clamps, wire, bag and gutter clips, swivel bases, clamp connectors, bicycle axle clamps and workbenches with a vice, and at Okov and KIPS we took only the first page of results. We took type and dimensions from product names, and counted sets of two clamps as one item. We did not measure clamping force.
