Which jigsaw to choose
For occasional jobs at home a corded jigsaw of 500 to 600 W with stroke-rate control and pendulum action is enough, because the pendulum speeds up a rough cut in wood and is switched off for a clean cut. A cordless one makes sense if you already have a battery of the same brand, because the version without battery and charger is much cheaper than the kit. For a worktop and thick timber a stable steel base plate and guide matter, and for a precise cut a blade holder that does not wobble.
The blade decides the job: coarse teeth for a fast cut in wood, fine teeth for a clean cut, bi-metal for metal and a special blade for laminate and tiles. What the EU requires in the instructions on vibration and noise
In Annex I, point 2.2.1.1, Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery requires the instructions for hand-held machinery to state the total vibration value to which the hand-arm system is subjected if it exceeds 2.5 m/s², and if it does not, to say so, along with the measurement uncertainty. Point 1.7.4.2(u) requires the instructions to state the sound pressure level at the workstation where it exceeds 70 dB(A), and the sound power level where that pressure exceeds 80 dB(A).
Montenegro is not an EU member, but the figures in the instructions also help when buying: compare the vibration and noise values of two models before you choose. During longer cutting take breaks, wear hearing protection and goggles, and fix the piece with a clamp.
