Backpacks in Montenegro: prices of school, kindergarten, laptop and hiking backpacks on Ananas, at Okov and KIPS and what EU rules say about the label (2026)

On 27 September 2026 a backpack on Ananas costs from €8 to €199, with a median of €32.90 across 218 backpacks. School backpacks have a median of €49.99 and kindergarten backpacks €16.90. A Fjallraven Kånken costs €99.99, the same as a wheeled school backpack. At Okov a Neo backpack costs €34.90, and a Yenkee laptop backpack from €32.90.

What people search for and when

In Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months, the term ranac (backpack), compared with usisivac (vacuum cleaner), had an average of 10. It peaked at 46 in the weeks from 26 July and 16 August 2026, 44 in the week from 23 August and 42 in the week from 28 September 2025, while in September 2026 the values fell to 27, 16 and 20. Trends listed ranac za putovanje (travel backpack, +70 %) as a rising query. So backpacks are searched for most in the second half of summer, before school.

On 27 September 2026 Google completed ranac with za skolu (for school), za vrtic (for kindergarten), za skolu crna gora (for school Montenegro), za putovanje crna gora (for travel Montenegro), za skolu za devojcice (for school for girls), nike, za putovanje (for travel) and za planinarenje (for hiking), and skolski ranac (school backpack) with za prvake (for first-graders), podgorica, za devojcice (for girls), za tinejdzere (for teenagers), nike, na tockice (on wheels), za decake (for boys), kengur and real madrid. So people look for school backpacks, backpacks for kindergarten, travel and the mountains, and brands.

School and kindergarten backpacks

On Ananas the search for ranac (backpack) returned 1,524 results, and of the 284 we read, 218 backpacks remained after we removed bags, wallets, toys, laptops bundled with a backpack and backpacks for pets and tools. There were 36 school and ergonomic backpacks, from €24.99 to €119.99, with a median of €49.99. Coolpack school backpacks cost from €24.99 to €99.99, with a median of €49.99 across 19 models, and Top Model from €29.99 to €119.99. The ergonomic Kick backpack costs from €33.21 to €40.05 on sale, and the ergonomic Play Maxx €49.80.

Kindergarten and preschool backpacks cost from €10.90 to €72.90, with a median of €16.90 across 24 backpacks. A Sazio Limo costs €10.90, Cerda €11.99 and €12.99, Coolpack kindergarten backpacks from €19.99, Samsonite kindergarten backpacks €55 and €59, and the Childhome first backpack €72.90. A wheeled school backpack, the Coolpack Stitch or the Top Model Dots, costs €99.99, twice the median school backpack.

Laptop, sports and hiking backpacks

Laptop backpacks cost from €8 to €199, with a median of €27.63 across 24 backpacks, and 20 of them were on sale. The Xiaomi Casual Daypack costs €8 at one seller, €8.90 at another and €10.20 at a third, and the Xiaomi Mi Commuter €24.65 and €29.90. The HP 15.6-inch backpack and the Lenovo Legion cost €42.50 each, the Dell EcoLoop €52.70 and Samsonite laptop backpacks from €119.90 to €199.

Sports brands such as Adidas, Puma, Reebok and Under Armour have 51 backpacks from €10 to €55, with a median of €27.99. The outdoor and city brands The North Face, Columbia and Fjallraven have 11 backpacks from €42.99 to €124.99. The Fjallraven Kånken costs €99.99 in six colours, The North Face Jester €94.99, the Borealis Classic €124.99 and the Columbia Traveler €42.99.

Okov and KIPS

At Okov a 40x30x20 cm Neo backpack costs €34.90, and a 40 l Survival backpack €74.90. Yenkee laptop backpacks up to 15.6 inches cost €32.90, €34.99 and €37.90. Insulated picnic backpacks cost from €9.90 to €26.90, with a 17 l Gio Style at €12.90 and a 25 l one at €24.90. At KIPS the search for ranac returned one result, an INGCO tool backpack for €26.99.

Our calculation

By our calculation, the median school backpack costs three times the median kindergarten backpack. The same Xiaomi Casual Daypack costs 27.5 % more at the most expensive seller than at the cheapest, and the Mi Commuter €5.25 or 21 % more. A Fjallraven Kånken costs three times the median of all backpacks on Ananas. The 40 l Survival backpack at Okov costs €1.87 per litre, the 25 l insulated backpack €1 per litre and the 17 l one €0.76 per litre.

What EU rules say about the fibre label

Article 14 of Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 on textile fibre names requires textile products to carry a label with their fibre composition when they are made available on the market, and Article 16 requires that composition to be clearly visible before purchase, also when buying online. Annex V, point 17, however, exempts travel goods of textile materials, which usually include backpacks, so a composition label is not mandatory for them. Montenegro is not an EU member, so look for the backpack's composition and material in the product description or ask the seller.

On Glatko

On 27 September 2026 Glatko had one verified education provider, from Budva, one for tourism experiences, from Kotor, and none yet for hiking tours.

What to check before buying

1. The purpose: kindergarten, school, work or the mountains.
2. Back and straps: an ergonomic backpack for pupils, adjustable straps.
3. The volume in litres and a laptop compartment, with its size in inches.
4. The material from the description, since a composition label is not mandatory for backpacks.
5. The same product code at several sellers on Ananas.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from Ananas, Okov and KIPS on the day we read them; the groups, medians and price per litre are ours. On Ananas we read 284 of 1,524 results and removed bags, wallets, toys, laptops bundled with a backpack and backpacks for pets and tools. At Okov we read the first search pages. We did not measure the weight, durability or water resistance of the backpacks.
