Baby and children's sleeping bags

On Ananas the search for vreća za spavanje returned 30 results, of which 19 baby and children's sleeping bags, the rest being air mattresses, camping beds, toys, a pouf and a baby carrier. The Cangaroo Koala for ages up to three months costs €15.99, Fim Baby €21.99, and Cangaroo Cudle €28.99.

Winter Kikka Boo bags for ages 6 to 18 months in six designs cost €29.75 each, and a Kidzz bag €29.90. Kikka Boo baby bags and winter bags with feet for ages two to three and four to five years cost €45 each. Summer Bubaba bags cost €49.90, and a water-resistant Cangaroo bag €64.40.

Camping sleeping bags

At Okov the search for vreća za spavanje returned three camping bags: the Bestway Pavillo Evade of 180x75 cm for €18.99, the Pavillo Hiberhide of 220x75x50 cm for €21.90 and the Camp Active Mummy of 210x80 cm for €24.90. The rest were storage bags for clothes and vegetables.

At KIPS the search returned two Pavillo bags, the 68099 for €9.99 instead of €16.99 and the 68102 for €10.99 instead of €17.49, the rest being vacuum cleaner, leaf and packing bags. No shop gave the comfort temperature in the name, so check it on the pack.

How to choose a sleeping bag

Choose a baby bag by the child's age and height, as stated on the label, because a bag that is too big lets the baby slip down inside. The NHS advises keeping the room where a baby sleeps at about 16 to 20 °C and checking it with a room thermometer, and the baby's bag should match that. A winter bag for a cold room, a summer one for a warm room, and in a warm room do not add a blanket over the bag.

Babies grow fast, so many parents buy two bags, one to use and one in the wash, plus winter and summer ones as needed. Before first use, wash the bag according to the instructions and check that the zip and fasteners are sewn on well and that there are no loose threads.

For camping a mummy-shaped bag keeps heat better than a rectangular one, and for autumn in the mountains choose one with a stated comfort temperature. Put a mat or camping mattress under the bag, because cold ground draws heat faster than air, and after the trip dry the bag and store it loose, not compressed in its carry sack. What the EU requires of a children's sleeping bag

Commission Decision 2010/376/EU sets the safety requirements for European standards for products in a child's sleep environment, among them children's sleeping bags. The neck and arm openings must be such that the child cannot slip down into the bag, and the bag must have no cords or loops that could wrap around the neck. The bag must not have small parts the child can detach and swallow, and the baby must be able to breathe even if the bag covers its face.

Warnings must tell parents to choose the bag recommended for the child's age and height and to watch the room temperature, because of the risk of overheating. Montenegro is not an EU member, but on the label of the bag you buy look for the age, height and recommended room temperature.
