At Okov the first page of the search for wc daska had 31 seats, of which ten soft-close. The cheapest are the Rina and Gepard Z3 Slim at €7.99 each and the granite-coloured Karolina at €8.49, then the ABS Perla at €12.99, the Vita at €13.49 and the Sara at €13.99. The Gepard Arizona costs €15.99 and €18.99, the Ohio €19.49, and the Taormina €19.99 instead of €27.90.

Soft-close seats cost €14.99 for the Gepard Tribeca, €19.99 for the wood-coloured Ridder Chalet, €24.90 for the Ridder Paradise and Gepard Eurostandard, €25.90 for the Tendance Bamboo, €26.90 for the Gepard Slim C9 and €32.90 for a black Tendance. Ceramica Dolomite seats cost €49.90 each, and the Ideal Standard TESI Slim €129.90. The median of the ten soft-close seats is €25.40.

How to measure the toilet

Before buying, measure the length of the toilet from the hinge holes to the front edge, the maximum width and the distance between the hinge holes, and compare them with the dimensions on the pack. At Okov several seats state their dimensions, for example the Gepard Taormina 45.5x36.2 cm, the Ohio 44.1x36.9 cm, the Arizona 43x36.5 cm and the Tendance Thais 37.5x47 cm. The shape matters, because a seat for a round toilet does not sit well on a D-shaped one.

You usually remove the old seat by undoing two nuts under the toilet or, on newer ones, pressing a button on the hinges, so most people do the swap themselves in a few minutes. A soft-close seat lowers itself and does not bang, so it is better when there are children in the house. A duroplast seat is harder and more scratch-resistant than a plastic one, and quick-release seats are easier to clean. What the EU requires of the seller

In Article 12, Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety requires the distributor, which includes a shop, to check before selling that the manufacturer has met the obligations in Article 9, paragraphs 5 to 7: a type or batch number, the manufacturer's name and address and instructions with safety information. If the seller suspects the product does not comply, it may not sell it until this is corrected.

Montenegro is not an EU member, but a toilet seat pack should include fitting instructions and the manufacturer's details. You need these too if the hinges break, because spare hinges are chosen by model.
