SUP and kayak in Montenegro: rental prices by the hour and day in Kotor, Budva and Herceg Novi, on national park lakes, kayak tours and buying a board (2026)

A SUP board in Dobrota near Kotor rented for €10 an hour for one person on 26 September 2026, with paddle and life jacket, according to the SUP Rental Kotor price list, and a kayak on Black Lake in Durmitor for €4 an hour according to the price list of Nacionalni parkovi Crne Gore. On Skadar Lake and Biogradsko Lake a single kayak costs €3 an hour, and in Budva renting a SUP board or kayak on Viator starts at €12 to €15. Below are rental prices at sea and on the lakes, kayak tours, a comparison of renting and buying, what the law says about a licence and where the sea is cleanest.

What people search for

On 26 September 2026 Google completed kajak (kayak) with na naduvavanje (inflatable), na naduvavanje crna gora (inflatable Montenegro), budva, podgorica, prodaja (for sale) and cena (price), sup daska (SUP board) with crna gora, cena, okov, decathlon and akcija (on sale), and sup budva with budva sup rent. In English it completed paddle board montenegro with paddle board kotor montenegro. According to Google Keyword Planner, kajak and sup daska were searched in Montenegro, in Serbian, between 100 and 1,000 times a month from September 2025 to August 2026, and sup budva and kajak na naduvavanje between 10 and 100 times.

Renting at sea

We read the prices on 26 September 2026 on the SUP Rental Kotor website, in the Budva listings on Viator and on the Montenegro Pulse portal, which publishes the kayak prices for Herceg Novi without a date. How we choose and label price sources is explained on our page on how we measure prices.

In Dobrota the paddle, leash and life jacket are included in the price, and parking nearby costs €7 a day. Two people on one board pay €15 instead of €20 for two boards. At EDDY on Azzurro beach in Budva an instructor gives a short briefing before you set off, and a Viator booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the slot.

Kayaks on national park lakes

Nacionalni parkovi Crne Gore rents kayaks on Black Lake, Biogradsko Lake and Skadar Lake, and the park entrance fee is paid on top of the rental.

Four adults with two double kayaks on Black Lake for two hours pay 2 × 2 × €6 = €24 for the kayaks and 4 × €5 = €20 in entrance fees, €44 in total.

Kayak tours

For guided tours the price is per person and includes the equipment. On Viator a three-and-a-half-hour kayak tour from Budva to the caves and Sveti Nikola island was offered from €50 per person, and a four-hour winter tour from €62.61. Montenegro Pulse lists kayak tours from Herceg Novi from €30 for two and a half to three hours to €50 for a full day, and a five-hour tour to Luštica, starting from Kotor, Tivat or Budva, from €82 per person. The Herceg Novi tours start from the town beach next to the marina and include kayak and snorkelling gear, dry bags and a guide. On Skadar Lake the same portal lists kayak tours from €40 to €60 per person for groups of four or more and from €55 to €75 for smaller groups. Renting or buying

At Okov on 26 September 2026 a 320 cm inflatable SUP board cost €229.89 instead of €349, and a 381 cm board that also works as a kayak €349.90 instead of €499. A 331 cm inflatable kayak was €119 instead of €169.90.

• SUP board at €229.89: pays off after about 23 hours of renting at €10.
• Inflatable kayak at €119: pays off after 17 hours of renting at €7 in Herceg Novi.
• For one holiday: if you paddle two or three times for an hour, renting is cheaper and you do not have to carry a pump and a board.

Do you need a licence

Under the Law on the Safety of Maritime Navigation, a boat is a vessel with an engine of more than 5 kW and a hull longer than 2.5 metres, and canoes, kayaks, gondolas, pedal boats, windsurf boards and surfboards are expressly not boats. So a kayak does not need a boat operator's licence; the SUP board is not mentioned separately in the definition. Still wear a life jacket at sea, because many speedboats cross the bay in summer.

Where the sea is cleanest is shown by the results of beach monitoring: in the round from 1 September 2026, 100 of 114 beaches had excellent water, as noted by Fijaka in its guide to sea water quality.

Glatko and water sports

On 26 September 2026 Glatko had no separate category for renting SUP boards and kayaks, and in the tourism and experiences category there were no kayak tour guides. What we did not measure

We did not measure rental prices on every beach, because many rental points do not publish them, or prices in Ulcinj and Bar. The Herceg Novi kayak prices on the Montenegro Pulse portal have no date, so check them on the spot. The Okov prices are sale prices and apply while the sale lasts. The prices are from a single day.
