At Okov we took 49 spanners and sets from fourteen searches, with a median of €15.99, because they include expensive sets. A 6 mm W.Best combination spanner costs €0.90, Hoegert from €1.39 to €1.49, and Unior from €4.19 for 6 mm to €79.90 for 46 mm. A Unior ring spanner costs from €4.99 to €39.90, a Unior open-end €2.99 and €3.99, and a W.Best €1.20.
Hoegert ratcheting spanners cost €3.50, €4.50 and €5.50, Total adjustable wrenches €6.99, €9.99 and €11.99 and a Hoegert adjustable €9.49. Sets cost from €8.90 for a six-piece Top Tools, €9.99 for Total, €15.99 for Hoegert and €24.90 for Raxx, up to €99.90 for Unior and €229.90 for the largest set. Spanners at KIPS
At KIPS we took 151 spanners and sets from eight searches, with a median of €6.29. The cheapest unbranded combination spanners cost from €0.65 to €4.69, open-end ones from €0.75 to €2.79, another line of open-end spanners from €1.39 to €7.99, and ring spanners from €1.99 to €14.49. A Maurer Plus combination spanner costs from €4.39 to €10.90, Makita from €2.99 to €6.29 and Forch from €4.69 to €18.49, while a Forch open-end costs from €4.09 to €29.99.
Adjustable wrenches cost from €3.29 for 150 mm to €18.99 for 450 mm, Ingco adjustables from €5.99 to €17.99, and pipe wrenches €8.99 and €11.90. Sets cost from €5.39 for six open-end spanners to €77.90 for a Maurer 6 to 32 mm set, Ingco from €11.99 to €44.90, a Makita set of five ring spanners €30.90 and Forch €49.90.
What a 13 mm spanner costs
A 13 mm spanner is most often needed for M8 bolts, on bikes, furniture and plumbing joints. A 13 mm combination spanner costs €1.29 and €1.69 for unbranded ones at KIPS, €5.19 for Maurer Plus and €5.49 for Forch, and with a ratchet €12.99 at KIPS and €14.49 at Okov. The price of the same spanner varies up to tenfold, and the more expensive one is usually forged chrome-vanadium steel that fits the bolt head more precisely.
Which spanners to get for the home
For the home a set of 8 to 19 mm combination spanners and one 250 mm adjustable wrench are enough. The ring end grips the bolt head on all sides and does not round the corners, so use it first to loosen a tight bolt, while the open end finds the bolt faster in a cramped space. A ratcheting spanner turns the bolt without taking the spanner off, which saves time on long threads.
An adjustable wrench replaces several sizes, but slips more easily and damages the bolt, so do not use it on tightly fastened bolts. A pipe wrench is for pipes and round fittings, not for hexagon bolts. Do not extend a spanner with a pipe, as this easily breaks it or shears off the bolt head.

What EU customs duty applies to hand spanners
According to the European Commission's TARIC database on 29 September 2026, for tariff code 8204 11 00, non-adjustable hand spanners, the third-country duty is 1.70 %. For goods originating in Montenegro a preferential rate of 0 % has applied in the EU since 1 May 2010.
TARIC also lists, from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2028, a duty of €3 per item in consignments worth up to €150 that were previously exempt from duty. This concerns buyers in the EU who order tools from third countries, while Montenegro has its own customs tariff, so check domestic charges when ordering from abroad.
