Solar Water Heaters in Montenegro: Prices of Solar Collectors, Vacuum-Tube Systems, Indirect Cylinders, Pumps and Controllers, and What Heating Water Costs (2026)

On 26 September 2026 a 2000 x 1000 mm solar collector in Montenegro costs €240 at the Topla Kuća shop, an unpressurised vacuum-tube system from €730, and a pressurised solar water heater from €1,378. A 195 l Tesy indirect cylinder for a solar system costs €549.90 at Okov, and Topla Kuća sells a 300 l SON cylinder with two coils for €1,656. By our calculation, a set with two flat-plate collectors, a 195 l cylinder, a pump and a controller costs about €1,415, before pipes and installation.

What people search for

On 26 September 2026 Google completed solarni bojler (solar water heater) with solarni bojleri crna gora (solar water heaters Montenegro), za toplu vodu (for hot water), iskustva (reviews), pod pritiskom (pressurised), na krovu (on the roof) and cena (price). Google Trends shows solar water heaters searched rarely in Montenegro compared with tiles or safes, but the searches are about buying: price, pressure and user experience.

Collectors and ready-made systems

We do not find solar collectors at KIPS or Okov, but they are sold by Topla Kuća, which publishes prices. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

In the same category Topla Kuća also sells air collectors, from €352 to €705, which heat a room, not water.

Indirect cylinders at Okov

Okov sells Tesy cylinders with a heat-exchanger coil, which connect to a solar collector or a boiler:

• Tesy EV 12 S 300 65, 283 l, one coil: €679.90.
• Tesy EV 2x5 2x12 S2 300 65 HP, 269 l, two coils: €899.90.
• Tesy EV 15/7 S2 500 75, 472 l, two coils: €999.90.

A cylinder with two coils can take heat from the sun and from a boiler or heat pump, so it costs more than a single-coil model.

Calculating a set

This is our own calculation from the published prices:

• Flat-plate system: two collectors 2 x €240 = €480 + 195 l Tesy cylinder €549.90 + pump €192 + controller €193 = €1,414.90, before pipes, expansion vessel, mounts and labour.
• Unpressurised vacuum-tube system: from €730 for a ready-made set, which also needs installing and connecting.

How much energy hot water takes

Heating 200 l of water from 15 to 50 °C takes 200 kg × 35 °C × 4.186 kJ/kg°C = about 29,300 kJ, or about 8.1 kWh. With electricity, at the EPCG higher-tariff price of 11.5462 cents per kWh without VAT and fixed charges, that is about €0.94 a day, or about €343 a year if that much water is heated every day by electricity alone. How much of it the sun covers depends on the roof orientation, the season and consumption, and we did not measure that.

Temperature and Legionella

The World Health Organization's fact sheet on legionellosis says Legionella grows in water at 20 to 50 °C, best at 35 °C, and recommends keeping hot water above 50 °C, with water leaving the heater at 60 °C or more. In winter and on cloudy days a solar cylinder often does not reach that temperature, so solar cylinders usually have an electric element or a second coil for top-up heating. When choosing, check that the cylinder has a backup heat source.

A solar collector heats water, while a solar panel produces electricity. On 26 September 2026 Glatko had eight verified plumbers: four from Podgorica, two from Tivat and one each from Budva and Bar.

What to check before buying

1. Pressurised or unpressurised system, because unpressurised water usually cannot reach all taps at the same pressure as mains water.
2. The number of coils in the cylinder if you have a boiler or heat pump.
3. A backup heater for winter and against Legionella.
4. The load capacity and pitch of the roof for the collectors.
5. What the price includes: pipes, expansion vessel, mounts and labour.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from two shops on the day we read them; Topla Kuća does not state in the category whether prices include VAT. The set and the energy figures are our own calculation. We did not measure how much water the sun heats at a given location, the price of installation, because we did not find it published, or current subsidies, so check the conditions on the Eco-Fund calls page.
