Curtains at Okov
At Okov the first page of the search for zavjesa za kadu had 32 curtains, almost all 180x200 cm. The cheapest are two Tendance curtains of 180x180 cm with 12 hooks at €3.99 each, one of them made of PEVA, then the Odiseja at €5.99. Plain single-colour Tendance curtains of 180x200 cm, in white, transparent, black or light grey, cost €7.49 each, and patterned curtains such as Snowflake, Font, Kreise or Fallin €7.99 each.
Ridder curtains are dearer: Line and Nuri at €11.99 each, Flipper, Sylt and Bosco at €12.49 each, Cubes €14.99, Honeycomb €15.99, and Textile, San Marino and Berry at €19.90 each. The most expensive is the Ridder Soaring at €21.90. A beige Tendance costs €12.99, and brown, grey and white ones €15.99 each.
Curtains at KIPS and on Ananas
At KIPS the search for zavjesa za kadu returned 72 results, of which 20 bathroom curtains, the rest being window curtains, roller blinds and rods. Almost all are 180x180 cm. The four cheapest cost €5.99 each, the CY2300230 €6.35, and 14 of the 20 curtains cost less than €10. Dearer are a 3D curtain at €11.99 and two at €15.49 and €15.99, and the only 180x200 cm curtain costs €17.99. Curtains that come in three different designs cost €6.49 and €12.49.
On Ananas there were only two offers of the same Bathroom Collection PEVA curtain of 180x180 cm with hooks, at €3.45 and €4.15, from the seller Centrometal.
Curtain rods
At Okov the first page of the search for sipka za zavjesu (curtain rod) had 32 rods. Extendable straight Tendance rods cost €5.99 for 70x100 cm, €6.99 for 70-120 cm, €8.99 for 110-200 cm and €10.99 for 135-250 cm. Telescopic Ridder rods with a 25 mm diameter cost €18.99 for 70-115 cm, €23.90 for 110-185 cm and €30.90 for 110-245 cm. Corner rods for a bath or shower in a corner cost from €8.99 for a Tendance 80x80 cm to €33.90 for a universal Ridder, and a black Ridder Bruck 90x90x90 cm €27.90 instead of €34.90.
At KIPS rods are sold under the AWD code: an extendable 70-120 cm rod costs €6.99, an extendable 110-200 cm €8.49, an extendable corner 80x94-180 cm €13.99 and a semicircular 80-90 cm €16.49.
Which size and rod to buy
Measure the length of the bath or the width of the shower and buy a curtain about twenty centimetres wider, so it does not pull tight and water does not escape at the sides. A standard 180 cm curtain covers most baths, and choose the height according to where the rod sits. The curtain should hang inside the bath or shower tray, not over the rim, because water then runs onto the floor.
A tension rod holds by pressure between two walls and needs no drilling, so it is practical in a rented flat, but it can slip if the curtain is heavy. A rod with brackets is fixed with screws, and a corner bath or corner shower needs a corner or semicircular rod. A PEVA curtain is light and does not absorb water, a polyester one can be machine washed at a low temperature, and a textile one is heavier and hangs straight for longer. Mould at the hem of the curtain usually means the bathroom is poorly ventilated, so spread the curtain out after showering to let it dry.
What the EU sets for lead in PVC
Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/923 amended entry 63 of Annex XVII to the REACH Regulation: articles made of PVC may not be placed on the market if the concentration of lead is equal to or greater than 0.1 % by weight of the PVC material. The ban has applied since 29 November 2024, with derogations for recovered PVC.
Montenegro is not an EU member, but if you buy a PVC curtain, look for the material and the manufacturer's details on the pack. PEVA and polyester are not PVC, so this restriction does not apply to them.
