Rakija stills in Montenegro: prices of 35 to 160 litre stills at KIPS, Okov and on Ananas, price per litre, spare parts and EU rules on methanol (2026)

On 28 September 2026 a rakija still at KIPS costs from €449.99 for 35 litres to €3,199.99 for 160 litres, with a median of €1,499.99 across nine stills. At Okov DES stills cost from €569 to €2,349, and on Ananas a 35 l still costs €460. A 100 l still costs €1,049.99 at KIPS and €1,299 at Okov.

What people search for and when

In Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months, the term kazan (still), compared with usisivac (vacuum cleaner), had no measurable value until mid-September 2026, and then scored 13, 13 and 15 in the weeks from 13, 20 and 27 September, while usisivac scored 51, 55 and 61. The top related query was kazan za rakiju (rakija still), and by municipality it was searched most in Herceg Novi, then in Nikšić, Podgorica and Budva. So stills are searched for only when the harvest and distilling begin.

On 28 September 2026 Google completed kazan za rakiju (rakija still) with 120 litara cena polovni (price, used), crna gora, 80 litara cena (price), 100l polovan (used), kupujemprodajem, 100l cena (price), kips, podgorica and 60l cena (price), and kazan za pecenje rakije (still for distilling rakija) with prodaja (sale), kupujem (buying), cena (price), 100l, valjevo, polovan (used), na plin (gas-fired) and iznajmljivanje (rental). So people look for capacity, price, used stills, rental and KIPS.

Stills at KIPS

At KIPS the search for kazan returned 17 results, of which nine rakija stills made by Destilatori, three spare parts and small stove collars. The 35 l Hobby still costs €449.99 instead of €549, the 80 l tilting still €999.99 instead of €1,300, and the 100 l tilting still with a stirrer €1,049.99 instead of €1,349.99, the same as the version with a small condenser. The 100 l Praktik still costs €1,499.99.

Professional 120 l stills cost €1,949.99 with a small condenser and €2,149.99 with a stirrer, the professional 160 l €2,259.99 and the 160 l Ekskluziv €3,199.99 instead of €3,999.99. Five of the nine stills were discounted. For the 100 l tilting still, a condenser without a coil costs €270, the coil €260 and the lyne arm €189.

Stills at Okov and on Ananas

At Okov the first search page had five DES stills with a stirrer. The 35 l gas-fired Hobby still costs €569, the 60 l semi-automatic PH30 €1,119 and the 100 l one €1,299. The 120 l automatic MIU costs €2,099, and the 160 l automatic PH30 €2,349.

On Ananas the search for kazan returned six results. A 35 l rakija still costs €460, a firebox for a 120 l still €275, a lyne arm for 80 to 100 l stills €85 and a rubber gasket €3.50.

The same still in different shops and price per litre

A 35 l still costs €449.99 at KIPS, €460 on Ananas and €569 at Okov, where it is the gas-fired version. The 100 l still at Okov is €249.01 or 23.7 % more expensive than the tilting one at KIPS, and the 160 l still 3.9 % more expensive than the professional one at KIPS. The median is lower at Okov (€1,299) than at KIPS (€1,499.99), because Okov does not carry the most expensive model.

By our calculation, the 100 l tilting still at KIPS costs €10.50 per litre, the 35 l Hobby €12.86, the 160 l professional €14.12 and the 160 l Ekskluziv €20 per litre. At Okov the 60 l still costs €18.65 per litre, the 100 l €12.99 and the 160 l €14.68. So a bigger still is not always cheaper per litre, because equipment such as a stirrer and machine tilting pushes the price up.

What EU rules say about methanol in rakija

In Annex I, category 9, Regulation (EU) 2019/787 on spirit drinks provides that fruit spirit is distilled at less than 86 % vol., has at least 37.5 % alcohol and at most 1,000 grams of methanol per hectolitre of pure alcohol. For plum, apple, pear, apricot, peach, blackberry and raspberry the limit is 1,200 grams, and for quince, juniper and elderberry 1,350 grams. Under category 6, grape marc spirit is first distilled together with the marc, also at less than 86 % vol., with at most 1,000 grams of methanol. Montenegro is not an EU member, but it is worth separating the first part of the distillate, which holds the most methanol.

On Glatko

On 28 September 2026 Glatko had three verified single-item transport providers, two from Podgorica and one from Herceg Novi, and eight plumbers, four from Podgorica, two from Tivat and one each from Budva and Bar.

What to check before buying

1. The capacity: 35 l for a hobby, 80 to 100 l for a household, 120 l and more for larger batches.
2. Tilting or machine still, and whether it has a stirrer so the mash does not burn.
3. The firebox: wood or gas, and whether it is included in the price.
4. Condenser, coil and lyne arm, and the price of spare parts.
5. The same capacity in several shops, since the difference for a 100 l still reaches €249.01.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from KIPS, Okov and Ananas on the day we read them, with the pre-discount price where shown; the medians and price per litre are ours. We took capacity from the name and removed stove collars, padlocks and other results that are not stills. At Okov we read the first search page. We did not measure steel quality, yield or fuel use.
