Pellets and Pellet Stoves in Montenegro: the Capped Price per Tonne, Stove Prices and What a Season Costs (2026)

In Montenegro pellets are searched for above all by price: on 24 September 2026 Google completed pelet cijena (pellet price) first with crna gora (Montenegro) and then with 2026. For pelet crna gora (pellets Montenegro) it offered cijena (price), 2026, prodaja (sale) and niksic, and for pelet podgorica it offered cijena (price), prodaja (sale), peci na pelet podgorica (pellet stoves Podgorica) and pelet na dzakove podgorica (pellets by the bag Podgorica). For pec na pelet crna gora (pellet stove Montenegro) it offered cijena crna gora (price Montenegro) and polovna crna gora (used, Montenegro). In English the query pellets montenegro exists, while in Russian there is none.

On the same day the government capped the retail price of pellets. This guide covers the new maximum prices and the prices before the decision, a calculation of what one season costs, the prices and consumption of new stoves, the prices of used ones and the conditions of Eko-fond's 2026 support for pellet stoves and boilers.

The government has capped pellet prices

According to an RTCG report of 24 September 2026, the government, at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, adopted at its session a decision on maximum retail prices for pellets:

Before the decision prices were considerably higher. As Investitor wrote on 11 September 2026, at the end of August a tonne sold for €330 to €360, and some traders were asking €400. The government then restricted exports of the wood raw material used to make pellets, and Investitor noted that this on its own does not mean lower prices. In August RTCG did not find pellets at the building-supply yards it visited, and it gave a price of up to €375 per tonne.

A similar measure is not new: in 2022 the government capped pellet prices at €269 per tonne at the producer and €320 at retail.

What one season costs

Investitor gives the example of a household that needs five tonnes of pellets for the winter. At prices before the decision that came to €1,650 to €2,000. At the new maximum prices five tonnes cost at most €1,250 for class A2 and €1,350 for class A1.

For smaller purchases: a 15 kg bag, converted at the cap, should cost at most €3.75 for A2 and €4.05 for A1. As the cap applies per tonne and per class, check the pellet class on the receipt or the label.

Prices of new pellet stoves

On 24 September 2026 KIPS had four pellet stoves by the manufacturer Alfa Plam, all at a reduced price:

The Luca is a room-heating stove with a fan. The Commo stoves have a water boiler and connect to central heating; for the Compact 23 the retailer states that it can also heat domestic hot water and underfloor heating.

Output, heated area and consumption

According to the data on the same product pages:

• Luca: heats up to 51 m², burns 0.82 to 2.03 kg of pellets per hour, the 23 kg hopper lasts up to 28 hours, efficiency is 85%.
• Commo 15: heats 58 to 96 m², burns 1.2 to 3.5 kg per hour, the 25 kg hopper lasts up to 21 hours, efficiency 92%.
• Commo 21: heats 81 to 135 m², burns 1.75 to 5.05 kg per hour, the hopper holds 45 kg, efficiency 86.1%.
• Commo Compact 23: heats 88 to 147 m², burns 1.7 to 5.4 kg per hour, the 45 kg hopper lasts up to 30 hours, efficiency 90%.

Example: at full output the Luca burns about 20 kg of pellets in ten hours, which at the capped price for class A1 is about €5.48. At lower output consumption is less than half that.

Used stoves in the adverts

On 24 September 2026 oglasi.me had 32 adverts in the pellet stove category. Stoves advertised during 2026 were priced from €500 to €1,200: an 8 kW stove by an Italian manufacturer for €500, an Alfa Plam Commo 15 in two adverts at €800 each, a Commo Compact 23 for €800 and one stove from 2021 for €1,200. A 36 kW pellet boiler was offered for €3,650. The firewood category also had one advert for a tonne of pellets from Budva, at €350.

With a used stove, ask about the year of purchase, the service record and whether the stove stood unused, because one seller says exactly that about a boiler that stood for a long time.

Eko-fond 2026: 50%, up to €3,000

On 18 May 2026 Eko-fond launched a public call for private individuals, with applications due by 23 July 2026. Measure 5 covered stoves and boilers burning wood biomass, pellets or briquettes, with support of 50%, up to €3,000. The conditions were:

1. Output of 5 to 50 kW for individual residential buildings.
2. Efficiency of at least 80% for pellets and 70% for briquettes, verified under EN 303-5 or another recognised standard.
3. Burn-back protection towards the hopper and manufacture to the EN 12809 and EN 303-5 standards.
4. Only the stove or boiler is co-financed, with related works such as a hot-water tank, valves and flues; anyone without a heating distribution network pays for the pipework and radiators themselves.

Works could start only after the contract was signed. Eko-fond publishes new calls on its calls page.

What to agree with the stove

1. Flue connection: all four stoves in the table have an 80 mm flue outlet; at KIPS a 1 m pipe of that diameter costs €15.29 and a 90° elbow €17.99.
2. Connection to central heating for stoves with a boiler, with a clear list of materials and labour.
3. The pellet class the stove needs, A1 or A2, because the maximum price differs by class.
4. Service and warranty, because the stove has a fan, electronics and a pellet feed from the hopper.
5. Fiscal receipt: a registered retailer's and installer's bill goes through the electronic fiscalisation system.

Who installs on Glatko

As of 24 September 2026 there was no verified profile in the air conditioning and heating category on Glatko, and among the 25 requests received between 24 April and 28 June 2026 there was none for pellet heating. What we did not measure

We did not check actual pellet prices in shops after the decision, compliance with the cap, or the cost of installing a stove and connecting it to central heating. We did not read the text of the decision in the Official Gazette itself, so we rely on RTCG's report. The technical data on the stoves come from the retailer, and consumption in your home depends on insulation, space and how you run the stove.
