Excavator Hire in Montenegro: Mini Excavator Price per Hour, Excavation per m³ and Soil Removal (2026)

A mini excavator with an operator costs in Montenegro from €40 to €60 an hour and a larger excavator from €50 to €70, according to the 2026 guide prices of Gradjevina.org in Podgorica. Digging foundations and trenches up to 2 m deep costs from €13 to €19 per m³, and removing soil and rubble by truck from €2 to €5 per m³, plus the landfill fee. An AutoDiler ad from Podgorica gives a mini excavator at €50 an hour and a 4 m³ tipper at €40 a load, and at the Možura regional landfill excavated soil and stone cost €0.73 a tonne.

Below are hourly excavator rates, digging prices per m³ and per m², haulage and landfill fees, a calculation for a real 15 m³ request and what to know when digging next to a neighbour's boundary.

What people search for

Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months shows mini bager as the most common query related to bager.

An excavator with operator by the hour

Gradjevina.org in Podgorica publishes guide prices for the Montenegrin market in 2026, with an operator. On 25 September 2026 AutoDiler had 16 ads in the machinery services category, mostly for foundation and trench digging, material haulage, concrete cutting and plot levelling, but none gave a price unit; we found a unit in one ad in the freight category. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

Four more ads from 2025 and 2026, from Podgorica and Budva, give €50 or €60 without a unit, so we do not count them as hourly rates. The other ads say "price on request" or cover other services.

Excavation per m³ and per m²

On small jobs the excavator is more often paid by the hour and on bigger ones by the cubic metre, because the price is more predictable that way, says Gradjevina.org. A foundation pit is often charged as a flat rate per m².

Rock makes digging 30 to 100% dearer, because it needs a hydraulic breaker and takes longer, so the quote comes only after a site visit. For locations outside Podgorica Gradjevina.org charges a flat fee for bringing the machine, depending on the distance, and does not charge for the assessment visit.

Landfill fee

The Možura regional landfill, founded by the municipalities of Bar and Ulcinj, publishes prices for residents and businesses per tonne:

At Možura excavated soil is almost six times cheaper than rubble, so it pays not to mix them. For the Livade landfill in Podgorica we found no current price list for soil and rubble on its website.

Example: a real 15 m³ request

In May 2026 a request came to Glatko from Bar to remove soil for a terrace extension: 10 × 1.5 × 1 m, that is 15 m³. It expired without a single quote. At Gradjevina.org's prices this is our calculation:

• Digging up to 2 m deep: 15 × €13 to €19, from €195 to €285.
• Haulage by truck: 15 × €2 to €5, from €30 to €75.
• Total: from €225 to €360, plus the landfill fee and bringing the machine, as Bar is outside Podgorica.

At the price in the Podgorica ad, haulage alone would take at least four loads of a 4 m³ tipper, that is €160, and excavated soil is looser than in the ground, so there may be more loads.

Digging next to a neighbour's boundary

Digging a fence foundation is a common small job, and fence prices per metre are in our fence guide. When you dig next to the boundary or a neighbouring house, Fijaka explains in its guide to neighbour law that a neighbour at risk can demand that works endangering the stability of their land or building be stopped, so agree the line and depth of the dig before the excavator arrives. Gradjevina.org also notes that the route of existing utilities is checked before the machine comes, because a cut cable or water pipe is the most expensive mistake at this stage.

Who does this on Glatko

On 25 September 2026 Glatko had one verified provider in the rough construction category, in Budva, and the request from Bar went without a quote. A registered firm's invoice goes through the Tax Administration's electronic fiscalisation system.

What to ask the contractor

1. By the hour or per m³, and whether the operator is included.
2. What bringing the machine to your site costs.
3. Whether haulage is included and who pays the landfill fee.
4. How much rock adds and whether they have a hydraulic breaker.
5. Who checks the route of utilities before digging.

What we did not measure

The hourly and per-m³ prices are one firm's guide prices, and from AutoDiler we have only one ad with a clear unit. We did not measure how many m³ an excavator digs in an hour, and we have the landfill fee only for Možura, not for Podgorica.
