From 50 l, the Profi air 250/8/50 costs €299.90, the Abac Montecarlo L20 €319.90 and the Nuair 400/10/50 €399.90, while a 100 l Profiair on 400 V costs €699.90 and a 90 l Abac €899.90. 18 V cordless ones without battery cost €115 and €149 for the Einhell Pressito, €189 for the Neo and €249 for the DeWalt. The cordless Bosch GKO18V-51 costs €441.75, and car compressors from €9.99 for a Bormann, while the Xiaomi Mi 2 costs €49.99.
Which tank size to choose
For tyres, balls and blowing out dust a small 6 to 24 l compressor is enough, and a 12 V car compressor only for tyres. For a paint spray gun, a pneumatic wrench or longer work you need a tank of 50 l or more and higher air flow, because a small compressor keeps switching the motor on. An oil-free compressor needs no oil maintenance and is lighter, but is usually louder, while an oil compressor runs more smoothly and lasts longer.
After work, drain the condensate from the tank through the valve at the bottom, because water inside corrodes the metal. Buy the hose and couplings to match the thread on the compressor, and set the pressure on the regulator to suit the tool, not the maximum. What the EU says about noise at work
In Article 3(1), Directive 2003/10/EC on noise at work sets a daily exposure limit value of 87 dB(A), an upper exposure action value of 85 dB(A) and a lower one of 80 dB(A), all for an eight-hour working day. Under Article 6(1), when noise exceeds the lower exposure action value, the employer must make hearing protectors available to workers.
Montenegro is not an EU member, but a compressor without silencing can be loud, so place it away from where you work or choose a quiet model, and wear ear protectors during longer work. Look up the noise level for your model on the rating plate or in the instructions.
