Which filler is the best value

A bag is far cheaper per kilogram. Cool in 25 kg costs €0.29 per kilogram, and Gletolin in 25 kg €0.38, while ready-mixed Jubolin costs €2.49 per kilogram in 1 kg and €1.06 in 8 kg. Ready-mixed filler costs more, but needs no mixing, raises no dust during preparation and does not harden in the tub if you pause the job, so it is practical for repairs and small areas. For a whole flat, powder filler from a bag pays off.

Which filler for which job

For wall plug holes, scratches and small cracks, filler in a tube or ready-mixed in 1 kg is enough. For skim coating walls before painting, take filler in a bag and apply two thin coats, sanding the wall with fine paper after each coat. For deeper unevenness there is filler for thicker layers, such as Rimano for 5 to 40 mm, and for exterior walls only filler intended for that purpose.

Pour powder filler into clean water, not water into the powder, and mix with a paddle mixer until there are no lumps. Prepare only as much as you will use before it starts to set, because set filler cannot be thinned. What the EU requires of construction product manufacturers

In Article 13(1), Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 on construction products requires the manufacturer of a product covered by a harmonised technical specification to undergo the prescribed assessment and verification and to draw up a declaration of performance and conformity before placing the product on the market. Article 91(2) requires the declaration of performance and conformity, general product information, instructions for use and safety information to be provided free of charge on paper if the end user requests it at the time of purchase.

We copied prices from Okov, KIPS and Ananas on the day we read them; we calculated the prices per kilogram and the medians ourselves. We did not count grouts, electricians' plaster, modelling plaster or fillers that had no price at KIPS, and at Okov the search showed only the first page of results. We did not calculate the Jubolin Reparatur tube per kilogram, because its weight was not stated. We did not measure how much filler a square metre needs or how fast it dries.
