Basic emulsion paint (poludisperzija) costs from €1.33 to €2.50 per litre, with a median of €1.69, or from €0.70 to €1.21 per kilogram, and washable dispersion paint from €2.93 to €8.99 per litre, with a median of €3.67. A 15 l bucket of emulsion costs from €19.99 to €22.90.

Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months, with vacuum cleaner as the benchmark at an average of 62, shows no measurable interest in poludisperzija, so we give no trend here.

On 28 September 2026 Google completed poludisperzija with cena (price), cena uradi sam (price, do it yourself), za krecenje cena (for painting, price) and the name maxima, along with bucket sizes, and boja za zidove (wall paint) with cena, koja se pere (washable) and kupatila (bathrooms) and shade names such as kapucino, slonova kost (ivory), kašmir and sahara. So people look for the price of a large bucket, washable paint and favourite shades.

Paints at Okov

At Okov the searches for boja za zidove, boja za unutrašnje zidove and jupol returned 15 paints, with a median of €15.99 per pack. Cool Eko costs €5.99 for 5 kg and €15.49 for 22 kg, and Cool Pol €18.19 for 25 kg. Jupol Classic costs €4.99 for 2 l, €10.49 for 5 l, €19.99 for 10 l and €22.90 for 15 l, and Jupol Weiss and Jupol Plus €19.99 each for 15 l.

Among washable paints Jupol Gold costs €7.99 for 2 l, the Gold Advanced base €17.90 for 4.75 l, Jupol Citro against mould €6.99 for 2 l and €14.99 for 5 l, and Jupol Latex €15.99 for 2 l and Latex Satin €17.99.

At KIPS the searches for poludisperzija and boja unutrašnja returned 25 interior wall paints, with a median of €13.78 per pack. Maxipol costs €2.50 for 1 l, €5.52 for 3 l, €8.46 for 5 l, €15.01 for 10 l and €21.49 for 15 l, and BK-Pol €6.05 for 5 kg, €9.34 for 8 kg, €17.11 for 15 kg and €21.84 for 25 kg.

Among washable paints Maxidis costs from €2.81 to €3.38 for 0.6 to 0.65 l packs, €10.85 for 3 l, €16.58 for 5 l and €44 for 15 l, Maxidis F €11.95 for 3 l and €49.12 for 15 l, and BK-Gold €9.47 and €11.18 for 3 l, €16.84 for 5 l and €44.08 for 15 l. Which bucket is the best value

A large bucket is cheaper per litre. Jupol Classic in 15 l costs €1.53 per litre, and in 2 l €2.50. Maxipol in 15 l costs €1.43 per litre, and in 1 l €2.50. The lowest price per litre of emulsion is €1.33 for 15 l of Jupol Weiss and Jupol Plus, and per kilogram €0.70 for 22 kg of Cool Eko. Paint sold in kilograms and paint sold in litres cannot be compared directly, because a litre of paint weighs more than a kilogram, so compare how many square metres a bucket covers.

Which paint for which room

Emulsion is the cheapest and is enough for a bedroom, hallway and ceiling, but it is not washable. For a living room, children's room and walls that get dirty, washable dispersion paint or latex is better, because marks wipe off with a damp cloth. For a bathroom and kitchen choose moisture-resistant or anti-mould paint, and before painting clean the mould and remove the cause of the damp.

What the EU requires on paint labels

In Article 3(1), Directive 2004/42/EC on volatile organic compounds in paints and varnishes allows paints for buildings to be placed on the market only if their volatile organic compound content does not exceed the limits in Annex II. Article 4 requires the label to state the product subcategory and the limit value in grams per litre, as well as the maximum content of those compounds in the ready-to-use product.

Montenegro is not an EU member, but the same label helps here: water-based interior wall paints contain few volatile compounds, while thinners and oil paints contain far more. Ventilate the room during painting and for a few days afterwards, and keep children and pets away until the paint dries.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from Okov and KIPS on the day we read them; we calculated the prices per litre and kilogram and the medians ourselves. We did not count facade, oil, decorative, metallic or concrete paints, and at Okov the search showed only the first page of results. Washable paint also includes tinting bases. We did not measure how much the paint covers or how long it lasts.
