Car batteries in Montenegro: prices by Ah for standard, EFB and AGM batteries, replacement and start-stop (2026)

On 25 September 2026 a car battery at Okov cost from €54.90 for a 45 Ah Topla to €279 for a 105 Ah Varta AGM, and the cheapest 70 Ah one, a JP Power, cost €72.50. On Ananas, Castellana Co offered 117 car batteries: standard 66 to 79 Ah batteries cost €107.10 to €171.60, EFB for start-stop €175.50 to €208, and AGM €214.20 to €240. An Exide Premium 77 Ah costs €109 at Okov, and a 75 Ah one €148 on Ananas.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google completed akumulator cijena (battery price) with crna gora (Montenegro) in first place, and among others po kg (per kg), podgorica and otpad (scrap), and akumulator podgorica (battery Podgorica) with cijena (price), 75ah, start stop, punjac za akumulator (battery charger) and kablovi za akumulator (jumper cables). Zamjena akumulatora (battery replacement) came with start stop, podgorica, na licu mjesta (on the spot) and cijena (price), and akumulator za auto (car battery) with capacities from 45ah to 75ah. In English and Russian Google offered no suggestions for a car battery in Montenegro.

Batteries at Okov

On 25 September 2026 Okov had 19 car batteries from four brands. We explain how we choose and label price sources in how we measure prices.

There is also one 74 Ah battery without a brand name, at €99.90. Okov had five standard batteries of 70 to 77 Ah, from a 70 Ah JP Power at €72.50 to a 77 Ah Exide Premium at €109.

Batteries on Ananas

On Ananas all the car batteries came from one seller, Castellana Co: 42 Banner, 32 Bosch, 30 Exide, seven Hagen and a few other brands. We sorted them by capacity and type:

Of the 117 batteries, 80 are standard, 20 EFB and 17 AGM. For vans and trucks there are also 19 batteries above 100 Ah, and the standard ones among them cost €214.20 to €387. The same class is cheaper at Okov: a standard 70 to 77 Ah battery costs €72.50 to €109 there, while on Ananas a 66 to 79 Ah one costs at least €107.10, but Okov has a smaller range and no EFB.

Standard, EFB or AGM

A car with a start-stop system, which switches the engine off at traffic lights, needs an EFB or AGM battery, because it discharges and recharges more often. Which one exactly is written on the existing battery and in the vehicle's manual, and do not replace an AGM with an ordinary battery. In a battery's description Ah is the capacity, and the number of amperes, for example 640 A, is the current with which the battery starts the engine in the cold. The +D or +L marking tells you on which side the positive terminal is: if you take the wrong one, the cables may not reach. The JpSys marking on Ananas means batteries built to the Japanese standard, for Japanese vehicles.

Replacement, charging and the old battery

On older cars the replacement is simple, but some newer cars need the new battery registered in the vehicle's computer, which a garage with diagnostic equipment does; garage and diagnostics prices are in our guide to car servicing. For checking and charging at home Okov sells an Amio digital battery tester for €35.90, a 1 A Dunlop charger for €19.99, battery clamps from €1.49 to €6.99 and a 600 A Amio jump starter with a compressor for €89.90, and KIPS a 12 A charger for €41.90.

An old battery is hazardous waste and does not go in a bin. Leave it with the seller or an authorised collector: Ekomodus from Tivat buys old batteries across Montenegro, but does not publish a price per kilogram.

Before winter

A cold morning is what usually reveals a weak battery, so check it before the first frosts, together with the tyres. Fijaka explains in its winter tyre guide that from 15 November to 1 April, when there is snow, ice or black ice on the road, winter tyres with at least 4 mm of tread are mandatory on all wheels. Who does this on Glatko

On 25 September 2026 Glatko had no verified providers and no requests in the car service category, battery replacement included. A registered garage's or shop's invoice goes through the Tax Administration's electronic fiscalisation system.

What to ask before buying

1. Which capacity and current are written on the old battery.
2. Whether the car has start-stop and needs EFB or AGM.
3. On which side the positive terminal is, +D or +L, and whether the dimensions match.
4. Whether the seller fits the battery and takes the old one.
5. How long the warranty lasts and where you claim it.

What we did not measure

Prices come from two shops on the day we read them; on Ananas all batteries come from one seller. We found no published price for fitting a battery and registering it in the vehicle's computer, nor a buy-back price per kilogram for an old battery. We did not check how long individual brands last.
