Built-In Wardrobes in Montenegro: Price per m² of Front, Sliding or Hinged Doors, Ready-Made Wardrobes and Sliding Door Hardware (2026)

A made-to-measure built-in wardrobe (known locally as a plakar) is priced in Montenegro per square metre of front, that is, the width times the height of the wall it closes off. According to the only published prices we found, from a 2019 article on the Gradnja.me portal, the cheapest wardrobe in white melamine chipboard with hinged doors cost about €90 per m², the most common one in chipboard with hinges about €120, with sliding doors about €135, and a sliding wardrobe in painted MDF with drawers up to €200 per m². On 25 September 2026 a ready-made wardrobe at JYSK cost from €120 to €1,100, which for the wider models works out at about €125 to €200 per m² of front.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google's first suggestion for plakari po mjeri (built-in wardrobes) was podgorica cijena (Podgorica price), and it also suggested americki, klizni and ugradni plakari podgorica (American, sliding and fitted wardrobes Podgorica), namos and sogal. According to Google Keyword Planner, plakari po mjeri was searched between 10 and 100 times a month in Montenegro, in Serbian, from September 2025 to August 2026. In Google Trends for Montenegro the term ormari (wardrobes) had an average index about 29 times higher than plakari over the last 12 months, so people search for a wardrobe far more often than for a built-in one.

How the price is calculated

For made-to-measure wardrobes, also called American or fitted wardrobes, the area of the front is what counts: a wall 2 metres wide and 2.5 metres high gives 5 m². The price depends on the material, the interior and the hardware, and sliding doors cost more than hinged ones. We found no newer published prices: in the Home and Office section of oglasi.me, ads for wardrobes and made-to-measure furniture from Podgorica and Cetinje from 2025 and 2026 had no price. The article also says that white chipboard as a material costs €8 per m² and MDF €9 per m², but MDF needs painting at about €30 per m². On 25 September 2026 Gradnja.me still had the article published on its website.

Ready-made wardrobes: what they come to per m²

On 25 September 2026 JYSK had 53 wardrobes in its wardrobe category, from €120 to €1,100. To compare them with a built-in wardrobe, we converted the price per m² of front:

A ready-made wardrobe falls in the same price range per m² as a built-in one at 2019 prices, but it does not reach the ceiling or fill the alcove, so the space above and at the sides stays empty.

Sliding door and wardrobe hardware

For anyone assembling a wardrobe themselves or replacing a worn mechanism, Okov sells GTV hardware:

• 3 metre sliding door tracks: the top one from €20.90, the bottom one from €9.90, in aluminium.
• Wheels: top and bottom from €2.40 to €2.99 a pair.
• 2.7 metre handle profile: from €6.90 to €13.90.
• Wardrobe lift: €34.50 and €34.90, for pulling the rail down from the top shelf.
• 3 metre wardrobe rail: from €3.99 to €13.50, and pull-out hangers from €1.69 to €2.10.

A calculation for a 5 m² wall

For a 2 x 2.5 metre wall at 2019 prices:

• White chipboard with hinges: 5 × €90 = €450.
• Chipboard with hinges: 5 × €120 = €600.
• Chipboard with sliding doors: 5 × €135 = €675.
• Sliding MDF with drawers: up to 5 × €200 = €1,000.

For comparison, a ready-made 200 x 200 cm VELLERUP at JYSK covers 4 m² and costs €700, without the last 50 cm to the ceiling.

Who makes built-in wardrobes

On 25 September 2026 Glatko had two verified profiles in the custom furniture category, both in Podgorica; one is also in the joinery category. Before you sign, check:

• What the price per m² includes: interior shelves, rails, drawers, a mirror and installation.
• The sliding door mechanism: the hardware brand and whether the doors run on a bottom or a top track.
• Deadline, deposit and invoice: ask for a fiscal invoice; the tax administration explains how electronic fiscalisation works.

What we did not measure

The per-m² prices are from 2019 and we found no newer published ones; joiners give them on request. We did not measure the price of assembling ready-made wardrobes, prices at the Namos and Dallas showrooms, or the quality of the hardware.
