Water Filters in Montenegro: Prices of Filter Jugs, Cartridges, Under-Sink Filters and Reverse Osmosis, Cost per Litre and Water Testing (2026)

On 25 September 2026 a water filter jug cost from €10.99 to €23.99 at Okov, and a cartridge that filters 150 litres from €2.50, about 1.7 cents per litre. An under-sink filter cost €199 at Voden, and at EuroTehnika €166.27 in cash or €221.70 at the regular retail price; a reverse osmosis unit cost €551.70 in cash. Before you buy, you can have your water checked at the Podgorica water utility's laboratory, where a basic test of chlorinated water costs €64.46 and a hardness test €5.35.

Below are filter prices, the cost per litre against bottled and tap water, the prices of water tests and what to check before you buy.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google completed filter za vodu (water filter) with okov, podgorica, crna gora (Montenegro), za kuću (for the house) and za slavinu (for the tap). According to Google Keyword Planner, filter za vodu was searched between 100 and 1,000 times a month in Montenegro, in Serbian, from September 2025 to August 2026, and in Google Trends for Montenegro it had a similar average index to vodoinstalater (plumber) over the last 12 months.

Filter jugs and cartridges

The cheapest option is a jug with a cartridge. On 25 September 2026 Okov had eight filter jugs and seven kinds of cartridges, mostly made by Laica. According to the seller, the cartridge reduces limescale, chlorine, heavy metals and pesticides and has to be replaced after 150 litres. Under-sink filters and reverse osmosis

An under-sink filter delivers filtered water to a separate small tap or to the existing tap. Reverse osmosis also passes the water through a membrane, and part of the water carrying the impurities goes down the drain.

At EuroTehnika the lower price is the cash price and the higher one the retail price. Voden says its filter can be fitted to a separate small tap, to its own tap with two inlets or to the existing tap, in which case it filters all the cold water from that tap. For osmosis EuroTehnika also sells a spare membrane, with a cash price of €99.07, so upkeep is part of the calculation too.

What a litre costs

For comparison we took tap water in Podgorica, where a cubic metre costs €0.8009 in 2026 (details are in our guide to water meters and the price of water), and bottled water from the Voli webshop, where on 25 September 2026 the cheapest was Suza in a 6 litre bottle for €1.29.

• Tap water: €0.8009 per m³, about €0.0008 per litre.
• Jug with a Classic cartridge: €2.50 for 150 litres, about €0.017 per litre.
• PUREAL UTS under-sink filter: €166.27 for the first 3,600 litres, about €0.046 per litre.
• Bottled Suza, 6 litres: €1.29, about €0.215 per litre.
• Bottled Rosa, 1.5 litres: €0.79, about €0.527 per litre.

Example: a family of four who each drink 2 litres a day use 240 litres a month. That is 1.6 Classic cartridges or €4 a month, 40 bottles of Suza of 6 litres or €51.60, or 0.24 m³ of tap water for about €0.19. For the same family an under-sink filter with 3,600 litres would last about 15 months if used only for drinking water.

Testing the water before you buy

A filter should be chosen for the problem: limescale, the taste of chlorine, iron or bacteria in a well are not solved by the same device. The government publishes the rules on the health safety of water in its Rulebook on the health safety of water. Who installs a filter

A jug needs no tradesperson. An under-sink filter and reverse osmosis are installed by a plumber, because they connect to the cold water supply, and osmosis to the sink trap as well. On 25 September 2026 Glatko had ten verified plumbers, six in Podgorica. None of the 25 requests the platform received between 24 April and 28 June 2026 concerned a water filter. Before you buy, check:

• How many litres the filter lasts: 150 litres for a jug, 3,600 litres for the PUREAL UTS; the price of the replacement filter determines the real cost.
• The space under the sink and the tap: a separate small tap needs a hole, and Voden gives a diameter of 11 mm.
• The drain for osmosis: part of the water goes into the sewer, so the unit needs a connection to the sink trap.

What we did not measure

We did not test the filters and do not know how much each one removes; that is what the manufacturers state. We found no prices for replacement filters for under-sink units, no installation prices and no prices for tests at other laboratories. The bottled water prices come from a single webshop.
