Van Rental in Montenegro: Daily Price of a Cargo Van and an 8-Seat Minibus, Deposit and Which Licence You Need (2026)
A cargo van in Podgorica from PG Garage, according to the price list read on 26 September 2026, costs €39 to €80 a day: a Renault Kangoo goes from €47 for one to three days down to €39 for eight to fifteen days, and the large Ford Transit L4H3 from €80 to €60. An 8+1 passenger van from Royal rent a car costs €55 to €120 a day, depending on the model and the number of days. For a van of up to 3,500 kg and eight passengers an ordinary category B driving licence is enough.

What people search for
On 26 September 2026 Google's first suggestion for rent a kombi (van rental) was podgorica, and for iznajmljivanje kombija podgorica (van hire Podgorica) it also offered iznajmljivanje teretnog kombija podgorica (cargo van hire Podgorica). People also search for rent a kombi budva and rent a car budva kombi, and in English for van rental podgorica, van hire montenegro and van rental montenegro. For iznajmljivanje kombija cijena (van hire price) Google only offered cities from the region, so we collected Montenegrin prices from published price lists.
Cargo van: price per day
PG Garage in Podgorica publishes prices for three cargo vehicles, and the daily rate falls the longer you keep the van. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

The L and H codes describe the length and height of the load space: the L4H3 is the longest and tallest of the three versions on offer, and the Kangoo is a small delivery van. The price list does not mention a deposit or a mileage limit, so ask about both when you book.
8+1 passenger van: price per day
Royal rent a car Montenegro rents out passenger vans for eight passengers and a driver. Each vehicle page gives the price by number of days, with a note that it is indicative, seasonal and applies to the current month.

For rentals of 16 days or more, the table on the vehicle pages does not give a clear price per band, so ask separately for a longer hire.
Deposit, mileage and insurance
- Deposit: the Ford Tourneo and Mercedes V-Class pages state a mandatory deposit of €1,500, and the Opel Vivaro page €1,200, even though the description on the same pages says the vans are rented without a deposit. Ask how much the deposit is and how it is returned before you pay.
- Mileage: Royal lists unlimited mileage for its passenger vans.
- Insurance: Royal lists comprehensive (kasko) insurance among the included items; the page does not say how large the excess is.
- Leaving the country: neither of the two price lists says whether the van may leave Montenegro, so ask for it in writing in the contract.
Which driving licence you need
Under the Law on Road Traffic Safety, Article 199, a category B licence covers a motor vehicle whose maximum permissible mass does not exceed 3,500 kg and which has no more than eight seats in addition to the driver's seat, with a trailer of up to 750 kg. You can therefore drive an 8+1 van or a cargo van of up to 3,500 kg with an ordinary B licence. A vehicle with more than eight passenger seats requires category D1 or D, and a goods vehicle heavier than 3,500 kg category C1 or C.
Three sample bills
This is our own calculation using the prices in the tables:
- Weekend move, Transit Custom for two days: 2 × €70 = €140.
- Move with packing, Transit Custom for five days: 5 × €60 = €300, or €60 a day instead of €70.
- Trip for nine people, Mercedes Vito for seven days: 7 × €90 = €630, or €70 per person; with the Ford Tourneo 7 × €60 = €420, or €46.67 per person.
At PG Garage, four days of the Transit Custom cost 4 × €60 = €240 instead of 3 × €70 = €210 for three, so the fourth day costs only €30.
Van or removal company
With a van you drive, pack and carry yourself. On Glatko
On 26 September 2026 Glatko had three verified providers in moving and transport, two from Podgorica and one from Herceg Novi, and two in local moving; there were no moving requests. The platform does not broker self-drive van rental, but for a move with workers you can send a request without an account.
What to check before renting
- The exact price for your number of days, because the band changes after the third and seventh day.
- The deposit, its amount and when it is returned.
- Mileage and the price above the limit, if there is one.
- The excess on the comprehensive insurance.
- Permission to leave Montenegro, if you are travelling further.
- The load space dimensions, if you are moving wardrobes or beds.
How we measured and what we did not measure
We copied the prices from two published price lists, one for cargo vans and one for passenger vans, on the day we read them; Royal states that its prices are seasonal and indicative. We did not measure prices at other agencies, as we found none published, nor trailer rental prices, the deposit at PG Garage or fuel costs.
