Scooter Rental in Montenegro: Daily Price for 50cc and 125cc, Deposit, Driving Licence and Helmet (2026)

Renting a 50cc scooter in Montenegro cost from €25 to €30 a day on 26 September 2026, a 125cc from €30 to €35, and a maxi-scooter of 300cc and more from €50 to €70 a day, according to the price lists of three agencies in Budva, Tivat and Podgorica. The deposit is up to €100 for smaller scooters, and by law a 50cc scooter requires licence category AM and a 125cc category A1, both from age 16.

Below are prices by model and number of days, deposit and conditions, licence categories and helmets under the law, fines and a seven-day rental example.

What people search for

On 26 September 2026 Google completed rent a skuter (rent a scooter) with budva, ulcinj, sutomore, herceg novi and rent a scooter bar, and skuter iznajmljivanje (scooter rental) with budva and herceg novi. In English it completed scooter rental montenegro with motorbike rental montenegro, moped rental montenegro and scooter rental kotor montenegro, and rent a scooter budva with rent a moped budva and rent a vespa budva. In German it offered roller mieten montenegro budva and kotor, and in Russian and Turkish only the basic queries. In Google Trends for Montenegro, rent a skuter did not have enough searches for a curve.

Prices by model

All three agencies publish daily prices online, and the smaller scooters are almost all Kymco. How we choose and label price sources is explained in how we measure prices.

Longer rental, lower price

Jasmin Bike in Budva publishes prices by number of days, which shows how a longer rental lowers the daily price:

For both smaller scooters Jasmin requires at least one year of driving experience, and for the X-Town an A2 licence held for at least two years; with that scooter crossing the border is allowed. Monte Scooter offers rental without a deposit with damage protection, payment by card or cash and free delivery to the Podgorica and Tivat airports, and Boka Rent-a-Scooter operates from Tivat and Podgorica.

Driving licence and age

Under the Road Traffic Safety Law, a moped is a two-wheeled vehicle of up to 45 km/h and 50cc (Article 7), and it requires category AM. Category A1 covers motorcycles up to 125cc and 11 kW, A2 up to 35 kW, and A more powerful ones (Article 199). An AM or A1 licence is issued from age 16, A2 from 18, and A from 20 with two years of A2 experience, or from 24 (Article 179). A category A rider may also ride A1, A2 and AM, and an A2 rider A1, while category B in the same article covers light tricycles and quadricycles but does not mention mopeds (Article 200). Helmets and fines

The rider and passenger of a scooter, moped or motorcycle must wear a fastened, type-approved helmet while riding, and a bicycle helmet does not count (Article 89). The fine for riding without a helmet is €60 to €150 (Article 323), and the police can temporarily bar a category AM, A1, A2 or A rider without a helmet from traffic (Article 290). Jasmin gives two helmets with the scooter, and Monte Scooter lists a helmet with every scooter. Example: seven days at the coast

This is our calculation using the prices in the tables:

• 50cc scooter at Jasmin: 7 days at €25 is €175, with a €100 deposit that is returned.
• 125cc scooter at Jasmin: 7 days at €30 is €210.
• 125cc scooter at Monte Scooter: 7 days at €30 is €210, without a deposit with damage protection.
• Difference: for a week a 125cc costs €35 more than a 50cc, and according to Monte Scooter it goes up to 80 km/h instead of 50; for a car for seven days see our guide to car rental.

Glatko and vehicle rental

In transport and moving Glatko has 16 active subcategories, including vehicle rental, airport transfers and motorcycle transport. On 26 September 2026 there were three verified providers there, for moving and storage, from Podgorica and Herceg Novi, and no rental agency. Ask for a fiscal receipt for the rental; it is issued through the Tax Administration's electronic fiscalisation system.

What to ask before renting

1. Which licence category you need for that model and how much experience the agency requires.
2. How much the deposit is and how it is returned.
3. What the insurance covers and what your share of damage is.
4. Whether helmets for both riders are included in the price.
5. Whether you may cross the border and return the scooter in another town.

What we did not measure

Prices are from the three agencies' websites on the day we read them and may change with the season; we did not measure prices of agencies without a published price list, or the cost of damage protection. We read the law in the text of Official Gazette 33/12; we did not check later amendments or fine levels.
