Freezers in Montenegro: Prices of Chest and Upright Freezers, No Frost and Built-In Models at KIPS and on Ananas, and the Same Gorenje at Three Sellers (2026)

On 26 September 2026 a chest freezer in Montenegro costs from €171 for the Ecolux ECO 130 on Ananas, and the median of 24 chest models is €264.98. An upright freezer starts at €149.25 for the Favorit F 1005, and the median of 32 upright models is €448.52. The same upright Gorenje FN619EES5 costs €607.50 at one seller and €802.50 at another.

What people search for

According to Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months, the term zamrzivac (freezer) had an average index of 2.0, against 55.7 for usisivac (vacuum cleaner) in the same comparison. On 26 September 2026 Google completed zamrzivaci (freezers) with crna gora, podgorica, beko, tehnomax, tehnoplus and multicom, and zamrzivac with mali (small) and sandučar (chest). So people are looking for the price in a specific shop and for a smaller model.

Chest and upright freezers

On the marketplace Ananas a search for freezer gives 126 results, of which 57 are freezers and the rest bags, thermometers and accessories. Chest freezers cost from €171 for the Ecolux ECO 130, through €193.50 for the Favorit HCF 200 and €207.90 for the 198 l Tesla RH2000ME, to €666.25 for the Gorenje FH50EAW. Uprights cost from €149.25 for the Favorit F 1005, through €222.26 for the 160 l Comfee RCU219WH2, to €1,269.99 for the built-in Bosch GIN81VEE0.

An upright freezer takes less floor space and has drawers, so food is easier to find, but its median is €183.54 higher than a chest freezer's. A chest freezer gives more space for the money, but needs more room and bending down to the bottom.

The difference also shows per litre of volume. By our calculation the 198 l Tesla RH2000ME costs about €1.05 per litre and the 372 l Gorenje FH37DAW about €1.02 per litre, while the 160 l upright Comfee RCU219WH2 costs about €1.39 and the 280 l No Frost Gorenje FN619EEW5 about €2.10 per litre. A bigger chest freezer is therefore the cheapest per litre, but only if you actually fill it.

If you put the freezer in an unheated garage or pantry, check the appliance's climate class in the manual, marked with the letters SN, N, ST or T, which shows the room temperature range in which it works properly. In a cold pantry in winter or a hot garage in summer, an appliance outside its class may work less well.

Same model, different price

We found nine Gorenje models at two or three sellers on Ananas, where they are sold by Grmec, Tehno Plus, Tv Centar Djecevic and ANANAS SHOP. For all nine the highest price is at ANANAS SHOP.

The biggest gap is for the FN619EES5, €195, and for the FH19EAW chest freezer the gap is €148.75. So for the same freezer it pays to check at least two sellers.

No Frost and built-in freezers

• No Frost uprights: the 280 l Gorenje FN619EEW5 from €588.60, the 259 l Whirlpool UW8 F2Y WBI F 2 €599.25.
• Built-in uprights: Electrolux KUT6NE18S €985.15, Bosch GIN81VEE0 €1,269.99.
• Large chest freezers: the 372 l Gorenje FH37DAW €378, the Gorenje FH50EAW from €504.
• Accessories: a Maurer freezer thermometer €2.34, and a Roller wheeled stand for appliances up to 300 kg €29.75.

A No Frost freezer does not need manual defrosting, but it costs more. In a classic freezer ice builds up on the walls and has to be defrosted from time to time, because a thick layer of ice reduces space and increases consumption.

Temperature and consumption

Under Council Directive 89/108/EEC on quick-frozen foodstuffs, the temperature of a frozen product must be stable and at -18 °C or lower at all points, with brief upward fluctuations of no more than 3 °C during transport. A thermometer costing a few euros will show whether your freezer holds that temperature. By our calculation, a freezer that uses 200 kWh a year according to its energy label costs about €23.09 of electricity at the EPCG higher tariff of 11.5462 cents per kWh, without VAT and fixed charges. Buying in bulk and power cuts

A freezer pays off if you buy meat, fish or vegetables in bulk and in season. What to check before buying

1. The price of the same model at several sellers, not only similar models.
2. The spot: the width and depth of the space and whether there is a socket.
3. Chest or upright: space for the money or easy-to-see drawers.
4. No Frost or manual defrosting.
5. Annual consumption in kWh on the energy label.

How we measured and what we did not measure

We copied prices from Ananas and KIPS on the day we read them; the split into chest and upright, medians, comparisons and the calculation are ours. We did not measure the temperature or consumption of freezers, nor did we check stock in shops.
