Towing in Montenegro: Price per Kilometre, What Ads Ask and When Towing Is Free (2026)

Towing in Montenegro is charged by the kilometre: DeltaTop in Podgorica asks €1 per kilometre and €25 for a tow within Podgorica up to 30 km, with no charge for the return. Of 57 towing ads on AutoDiler, 13 with a price were posted in the past year, from €20 to €111, with a median of €30. For vehicles registered in Montenegro, AMSCG says it tows free of charge to the first garage.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google completed šlep služba podgorica (towing Podgorica) with cijena (price), crna gora (Montenegro) and auto šlep (car towing), and šlep služba cijena (towing price) with po km (per km) and podgorica. In English people search for towing montenegro, and in Russian for эвакуатор черногория and эвакуатор бар черногория, so foreigners stranded on the road also look for a tow truck in their own language.

The published price list

The only price list with a clear unit that we found is published by DeltaTop, a towing service with an address in Podgorica, on 27. marta Street. Under it, towing is charged by the number of kilometres driven with the vehicle, and the truck's return is not charged. We explain how we choose and label price sources in how we measure prices.

What the ads show

On 25 September 2026 AutoDiler had 378 ads in its Services category, 57 of them for towing and roadside assistance. That is the largest service in the category, ahead of freight transport with 50 ads and removals with 17. Of the towing ads, 29 gave a price, but some are up to seven years old, so we took only the 13 ads from Montenegro posted or renewed since 25 September 2025.

Of those 13, the most common price is €30, in seven ads. In Podgorica and Nikšić the ads range from €20 to €30, while on the coast and in smaller places they go up to €50 in Budva, €100 in Plužine and €111 in Herceg Novi. No ad says whether this is a city price, a starting price or a price per tow, so treat it as a starting point for a question, not a final price.

Of all 57 towing ads, 22 are from Podgorica, seven from Nikšić and five from Bar, while Kotor has two and Tivat one.

When towing is free

The Auto-Moto Association of Montenegro states on its website, in a post dated 13 June 2024, that it provides roadside assistance, repair of minor faults and free towing to the first garage for all vehicles registered in Montenegro. Roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day on 19807.

This means a driver with Montenegrin plates should call AMSCG first and only then a private towing service, especially when the breakdown is far from town. Foreign plates, and towing to a garage of your choice, are paid at the private service's rates.

Towing abroad and a replacement vehicle

DeltaTop says it tows passenger cars, vans and light goods vehicles, but also boats, speedboats and jet skis, and that it transports vehicles within Montenegro, Serbia and the European Union. If a passenger car breaks down or has an accident, it offers a free replacement vehicle so that you can continue your journey.

On the same day AutoDiler had seven more ads for vehicle transport within the country and abroad. Only one gave a price, €500 from Nikšić, without a stated destination. For transport across a border, ask for a written quote with the price to the destination and ask whether tolls and the ferry are included.

Example bill

This is our calculation at DeltaTop's prices, for a car with foreign plates:

• Breakdown in Podgorica, up to 30 km: €25.
• Tow of 50 km to a garage: 50 × €1 = €50, with no charge for the return.
• Tow of 100 km: €100, as much as the ad from Plužine asks.

Who does this on Glatko

On 25 September 2026 Glatko had no professionals and no requests in its towing and roadside assistance categories. A registered towing service's invoice goes through the Tax Administration's electronic fiscalisation system, so ask for a fiscal receipt even for a tow within the city.

What to ask before the truck sets off

1. Whether the price is per kilometre or fixed, and from which point the kilometres are counted.
2. Whether the truck's return is charged.
3. Whether the vehicle has Montenegrin plates, because then AMSCG tows free of charge to the first garage.
4. Whether night or weekend work costs more; for the city DeltaTop gives the same price on weekdays and at weekends.
5. A fiscal receipt, for insurance and any complaint.

What we did not measure

Ad prices have no unit, so we cannot compare them with the price per kilometre. We did not check AMSCG's terms for towing beyond the first garage, or whether insurance or comprehensive cover pays for towing. DeltaTop's price list is undated, and AutoDiler ads can be renewed without changing the price, so the date of an ad does not mean the price is new.
