Rent a boat in Montenegro: prices for speedboats and boats with and without a skipper in Herceg Novi, Tivat and Kotor, fuel, deposit and licence (2026)
A speedboat with a skipper for up to ten people in Herceg Novi cost €250 for two, €350 for four and €550 for eight hours on 26 September 2026, plus fuel, according to the price list of Montenegro Wild Boat. A boat without a skipper for up to six people, for which you need a boating licence, rents in Tivat for €150 to €270 a day according to the price list on the Montenegro Pulse portal, also without fuel, with a deposit of €200 to €300. Fuel is paid at the pump price: from 22 September Eurosuper 95 cost €1.74 a litre.

What people search for
On 26 September 2026 Google completed rent a boat with budva, herceg novi, tivat, montenegro, bar, kotor, krasici and sutomore, and iznajmljivanje glisera (speedboat rental) also with bez skipera (without skipper). In English it completed boat rental kotor with without skipper, and rent a boat budva also with budva rent a boat without license. According to Google Keyword Planner, rent a boat kotor and rent a boat budva were searched in Montenegro, in Serbian, between 100 and 1,000 times a month from September 2025 to August 2026, and iznajmljivanje camca (boat rental) between 10 and 100 times.
Speedboat with a skipper
Montenegro Wild Boat in Herceg Novi only rents its boats with its own skipper, departing from the Škver harbour. We read the prices on 26 September 2026 on the company's website, and the prices of the other boats on the Montenegro Pulse portal, which publishes them without a date. Boat without a skipper
A boat is rented without a skipper only if you hold a boating licence that the rental company accepts; the listings on the Montenegro Pulse portal state this as a condition.

Longer rentals are cheaper per day: the Bayliner for three to five days in July and August costs €180 instead of €200, and the Highfield for three to five days €225 instead of €250.
Fuel and the bill
Fuel is the biggest cost the price list does not show. According to the decision of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, from 22 to 28 September 2026 the maximum price of Eurosuper 95 was €1.74 and of diesel €1.95 a litre. Montenegro Wild Boat says its 150 hp speedboat uses 23 litres an hour at cruising speed and its VIP speedboat 36 litres, and the Montenegro Pulse portal gives 12 litres for the 90 hp Selva D.
- Herceg Novi, four hours with a skipper: €350 plus about two hours of running, 46 litres of petrol or about €80, about €430 in total, or €43 per person for ten people.
- Tivat, Selva D without a skipper for a day: €250 plus three hours of running, 36 litres or about €63, about €313 in total, or about €52 per person for six people.
- Tivat, Bayliner in July with an extra skipper: €200 and €40 for the skipper, €240 in total plus fuel.
The fuel calculation is ours: actual consumption depends on speed, sea state and the number of people on board.
What to check before renting
- Whether fuel is included: for most boats it is not, but for the small boat in Kotor and the Cap Camarat with a skipper it is.
- Deposit and insurance: the deposit is €200 to €300, so ask when it is returned and what the boat's insurance covers.
- Delivery: if you do not pick the boat up in Tivat, delivery within the bay costs €30 to €70.
- Bad weather: Montenegro Wild Boat moves a trip that cannot go ahead because of the weather to the first free slot.
Private boats and the law
Under the Law amending the Law on the Safety of Maritime Navigation, in force since 17 July 2026, a boat for personal use owned by a private individual must not be used for commercial passenger transport or for any transport in return for money or other benefit, and the owner, a close family member or a person with a certified power of attorney must be on board. If someone on a beach offers you a paid ride on a private boat, that is an offence; rent your boat from a company.

What we did not measure
We did not measure the prices of yachts and catamarans for multi-day charters or the prices on rental platforms, because they change by date. The Montenegro Pulse price list has no date, so check prices for 2027 when you book. We estimated fuel consumption from the rental companies' figures. The prices are from a single day.
