Lab tests in Montenegro: prices for a full blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol, thyroid, vitamin D and a home blood draw at private laboratories (2026)

On 26 September 2026 a full blood count at a private laboratory in Montenegro cost €5 to €6, a glucose test €2, TSH €5 to €8 and vitamin D €20 to €27, according to the price lists of the In Vitro and Lab Medical laboratories in Podgorica and Milmedika in Podgorica and Budva. In Vitro charges €10 for a blood draw at home, and Milmedika €14 for a package of seven basic tests.

Below are the prices for basic tests, hormones, vitamins and markers, packages and example bills, blood draws at home, and what of all this health insurance pays.

What people search for

On 25 September 2026 Google completed laboratorija podgorica (laboratory Podgorica) with cjenovnik (price list), radno vrijeme (opening hours), stari aerodrom (the Old Airport district), nedelja (Sunday) and city kvart (City Quarter), and vadjenje krvi (blood draw) with herceg novi and priprema (preparation). In Google Trends for Montenegro over the last 12 months, laboratorija was searched almost twice as often as stomatolog (dentist). According to Google Keyword Planner, laboratorija and laboratorija podgorica were searched in Montenegro, in Serbian, between 100 and 1,000 times a month from September 2025 to August 2026, and vadjenje krvi between 10 and 100 times.

Blood count, sugar, fats, liver and kidneys

We read the prices on 26 September 2026 in the price lists of three private laboratories: In Vitro with 353 tests, Lab Medical with 152 and Milmedika, which has the same test prices in Podgorica and Budva. We explain how we choose and label price sources on our page on how we measure prices.

The cheapest laboratory depends on the test: Lab Medical is cheaper for cholesterol, and In Vitro for urea and creatinine, which Lab Medical charges €5 for.

Hormones, vitamins and markers

The differences are largest for vitamins: vitamin D costs €7 more at Milmedika than at In Vitro, and B12 €5 more. Milmedika charges €26 for TSH, FT3 and FT4 together.

Among hormones, In Vitro charges €8 each for estradiol and progesterone, €9 for testosterone, €7 for prolactin and €10 for cortisol. Insulin costs €12 at In Vitro and Lab Medical, TPO antibodies €15, and an HIV test €15 at In Vitro and €17 at Lab Medical.

Packages and example bills

Milmedika offers packages: seven basic tests, glucose, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, triglycerides, AST and ALT, for €14, the same with HDL and LDL cholesterol for €20, a lipid profile for €10, a blood count with glucose and urine for €15, and a check-up lab package with blood count, basic tests, sedimentation rate, TSH, FT4 and urine for €50, or €65 with PSA.

• The same seven basic tests one by one: €16 at In Vitro and €21 at Lab Medical, so Milmedika's €14 package is cheaper.
• Thyroid and sugar, TSH, FT4, glucose and HbA1c: €30 at In Vitro, €31 at Lab Medical and €35 at Milmedika.
• Annual check, blood count, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, TSH and vitamin D: €38 at In Vitro, €43 at Lab Medical and €47 at Milmedika.

If you also want a doctor's examination with the tests, Milmedika charges €180 for its first and €230 for its second check-up package, and €70 for an internist examination with an ECG. That is several times more than the tests alone, but it includes the interpretation of the results.

Blood draw at home

In Vitro charges €10 for a home visit to take a sample, and it has laboratories in central Podgorica and at the Old Airport. Milmedika charges €2 for a blood draw in Podgorica and nothing extra in Budva, but a home visit by a doctor and a medical technician costs €200 to €500 in Podgorica, and €200, €300 or €500 in Budva. For people who cannot get to a laboratory, a blood draw at home is therefore far cheaper than a doctor's visit.

What health insurance pays

Under the Law on Mandatory Health Insurance, Article 14, insurance also covers diagnostics, so an insured person has tests done at the health centre with a referral from their chosen doctor. Under Article 15 a co-payment is charged for diagnostics, in an amount set by the Government, and under Article 17 children, women during pregnancy and for a year after giving birth, people older than 65, voluntary blood donors who have given blood more than ten times and people with chronic diseases such as diabetes or malignant diseases, for treating that disease, are exempt from it. A private laboratory does not ask for a referral, but you pay the full price of the test.

If your doctor prescribes a medicine after the results, the state chain Montefarm has 56 pharmacies and two of them are open 24 hours, in Podgorica and Nikšić; Fijaka in its guide to pharmacies lists their opening hours and medicine prices.

Glatko and care at home

Within health and wellness Glatko has a category for nursing care at home, but on 26 September 2026 it had no registered providers. What we did not measure

We did not measure the co-payment at health centres, because the Government sets it in a separate act, or laboratory prices in towns other than Budva. We do not know what a home visit costs at Lab Medical, because its price list does not say. These are prices from a single day.
