How to Find Clients in Montenegro: a Guide for Tradespeople

The query "kako naći klijente" (how to find clients) is live in Montenegro, but on 22.09.2026 we measured what it gets completed with: video editing, an accounting agency and insurance. Nobody has filled it in for tradespeople. That is bad news and good news at once: there is no ready-made recipe, but there is empty space.
The second thing we measured matters more: clients do not search for a "majstor" (tradesperson). They search for a trade, a town and, above all, a price. This guide starts from there.
What clients actually type
Everything below was measured in Google Autocomplete (hl=sr, gl=me) on 22.09.2026, not estimated:
| What the client types | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| cijena krečenja po m2 podgorica | the first suggestion (price of painting per m², Podgorica): price leads |
| moler podgorica cijena · krecenje podgorica cijena | trade + town + price |
| gletovanje i krecenje cijena podgorica | several services in one query (skim coating and painting) |
| masinsko krecenje podgorica | equipment sets you apart (machine painting) |
| majstor za krecenje podgorica · krecenje stanova podgorica | "majstor za <trade>" works; "majstor" on its own does not |
| kucni majstor podgorica · majstor za sve podgorica | small repairs have their own query (handyman, jack of all trades) |
| potreban majstor za krov / klime / stolariju / fasadu / malterisanje | a ready-made list of the trades people need (roof, air conditioning, joinery, facade, plastering) |
| krecenje niksic · krecenje po kvadratu herceg novi | demand exists outside Podgorica too |
The pattern is clear: trade + town + price. If your ad, your profile and your van say only "majstor", you do not appear in any of these queries. If they say "moler Podgorica — krečenje od X €/m²" (painter, Podgorica, painting from X €/m²), you appear in almost all of them.
A note on the word "majstor": on its own, it is taken. The query "majstor podgorica" returns a building-materials shop first, and only after that any tradespeople.
Publish a price: the cheapest advantage you have
We counted this on the same day. On the first page of the "Dom i kancelarija" (Home and office) category of one of Montenegro's biggest classifieds sites there were 120 ads; nine were for painters, and eight of those said "Cijena na upit" (price on request). In one tradespeople directory, of 11 listed painters only two had published an hourly rate (€12/h and €15/h).
So the client types "price" and the market answers "on request". A published starting price, even just "from €1.50/m², white, materials included", solves three things at once: you enter the queries that contain the word price, you filter out people looking for something unrealistically cheap, and you cut short phone calls that lead nowhere. What it looks like when it is done properly can be seen in our overview of painting prices in Podgorica.
Nine channels and what each one asks of you
- Referrals and neighbourhood Viber groups. The strongest channel in Montenegro, but it does not scale. Ask a satisfied client to pass you on to their building's group.
- Classifieds sites. Free and fast. The difference comes from a price and photos, because almost nobody publishes either.
- Google Business Profile. Free, and it shows up in maps and in local queries such as "moler u blizini" (painter near me). Fill in your trade, town and opening hours, and add photos of your work.
- Tradespeople directories. Little traffic, but high intent.
- Request platforms. The client describes the job; you send a quote.
- Social media. When we measured "kako se reklamirati" (how to advertise), the continuations were: na instagramu, na google, na tiktoku, na fejsbuku, na viberu (on Instagram, Google, TikTok, Facebook, Viber). That is a map of channels your competitors are only just exploring too.
- Building-materials shops. A business card at the counter has worked for decades.
- Lettering on your van and at the site. Trade + town + phone number.
- Partnerships with related trades. A tiler who recommends a plumber gets the same in return.
The same discipline applies to every channel: the same wording for your trade, the same starting price, the same phone number. A client who sees you in two places telling two different stories picks a third tradesperson.
Glatko data: what demand looks like, without the gloss
These are our numbers as of 22.09.2026, including the ones that do not flatter us:
- 25 requests have come through the platform so far. By urgency: 12 flexible, 9 "as soon as possible", 3 this week, 1 for a specific date.
- Six requests came in categories where we have no registered professional at all: roofing, birthday cakes, boat services and electronics/GPS. That is demand that went nowhere.
- 60 of 86 categories have exactly one professional. In most trades, right now, you have no competition on the platform.
- The platform has 43 verified profiles, of which 36 joined as founding providers between 2 May and 4 September 2026.
And the honest part: 25 requests in five months is not a flood, and most of them expired without a single quote. We do not promise volume; we promise that while the network is young, you will be first in your category and town. How the client experiences the other side of the same process is described in how to find a tradesperson in Montenegro.
A profile that brings in work: five things, measured
We went through all 43 profiles on the platform to see what people actually fill in. The result is your shortcut:
| Element | Profiles that have it (of 43) |
|---|---|
| Photos of work | 26 |
| Bio longer than 200 characters | 21 |
| Published hourly rate or price | 23 |
| Certificate | 0 |
| Video introduction | 2 |
The median profile completeness is 50 out of 100. In other words, if you add photos, write five sentences about yourself, publish a starting price and upload one certificate, you are immediately above most profiles. Not because the others are bad tradespeople, but because nobody finishes their profile. The same goes for classifieds and your Google profile.
When the work has to be on the books
Working off the books is the most expensive channel there is: without a receipt there is no repeat work from companies, agencies and landlords. Montenegro's Tax Administration runs an electronic fiscalisation system, so a registered professional issues a fiscalised receipt, which is also your proof that the job was done.
What "registered" means for tradespeople changed in 2026: registration now runs electronically through the register of craftspeople, and special rules apply to trades carried out at home or without business premises; RoNa Legal sets out the conditions and the list of trades in a Serbian-language guide to the craft register. What the tax side looks like (sole trader, flat-rate tax, contributions) we covered here: how a tradesperson in Montenegro works legally.
How to start today
Three steps that cost nothing: write your trade the way the client types it ("moler Podgorica", not "majstor"), publish a starting price and upload five photos of your work. Then show up where requests are opened: registering as a professional is free, and the how it works page explains the process from request to quote. To see how your category looks to a client, open the services overview.
Frequently asked questions
By appearing in the queries clients actually type: trade + town + price ("moler podgorica cijena"). A published starting price and photos of your work are two things almost nobody does, and both are free.
