How to Advertise as a Tradesperson with No Budget: Nine Channels

On 23.09.2026, the query "kako se reklamirati kao majstor" (how to advertise as a tradesperson) returned not a single suggestion, but the shorter "kako se reklamirati" (how to advertise) returned an exact map of channels: na instagramu, na google, na tiktoku, na fejsbuku, na viberu, na internetu (on Instagram, Google, TikTok, Facebook, Viber, online). That is the list your competitors are exploring right now as well.
The good news is that none of them needs a budget. What they need is the same sentence in nine places and about an hour's work per channel. The text below is practical: exactly what to write, not why marketing matters.
Before any channel: three fixed things
- Trade + town, exactly as the client types it. "Moler Podgorica" (painter Podgorica), not "majstor" (tradesperson). The word "majstor" on its own returns a building-materials shop before any tradesperson.
- A starting price. One number, with a unit: "painting from €1.50/m², white, materials included". It is not a binding offer; it is a reason for people to open your profile.
- The same phone number and the same business name everywhere. A client who finds you in two places with two versions of the story picks a third tradesperson.
Nine channels, in order of effort versus effect
1. Google Business Profile (60 minutes, free). A name in the format "Trade Town", a category, opening hours, service area, phone number and five photos of your work. You show up in maps and in searches like "moler u blizini" (painter near me). This is the only channel in which your name appears without anyone clicking on an ad.
2. Classifieds sites (30 minutes per ad). Here the difference is trivially easy to make: we looked at 120 ads in the home-services category, and of nine painters' ads, eight had no price at all. Write a price and upload three photos, and your ad is in the minority that answers the question the client actually has.
3. Viber and Facebook groups for your building and neighbourhood (15 minutes a week). The rule: never make your first post about yourself. Answer three other people's questions, and only then leave a short message with your trade, town and price. Groups throw out advertising, but not the neighbour who helped.
4. A request platform (45 minutes for the profile). Here the empty field can be measured: of 43 profiles, 26 have photos, 21 a bio longer than 200 characters, 23 a published price, and none a certificate. The median completeness is 50 out of 100. Four moves put you in the top half.
5. Instagram or TikTok (20 minutes per post). The only thing that works for a trade: before and after, the same shot, no music or effects. Three photos and a sentence on what was done and in how many days. You do not need followers; you need an album you can send a client in a message.
6. Building-materials shops (one visit). A business card at the counter and a word with the salesperson. People buying paint often do not have a tradesperson yet.
7. Your van and the site (one-off). Lettering with your trade, town and phone number. It works while you drive and while you work.
8. Partnerships with related trades (one call). Tiler and plumber, painter and plasterboard fitter, electrician and air-conditioning installer. The deal is simple: a referral for a referral, no commission.
9. Reviews (five minutes per job). On the platform, only one professional currently has a rating. Ask for a review the same day you finish the job, while the client is satisfied and still remembers the details.
Table: what each channel asks of you

|---|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | €0 | 60 min | monthly |
| Classifieds site | €0 | 30 min | renew when it expires |
| Viber / FB groups | €0 | 15 min | weekly |
| Platform profile | €0 | 45 min | whenever your price changes |
| Instagram / TikTok | €0 | 20 min per post | weekly |
| Building-materials shops | cost of business cards | 1 visit | twice a year |
| Van lettering | one-off printing | 1 day | — |
| Partnerships | €0 | 1 call | as needed |
| Reviews | €0 | 5 min per job | ongoing |
⚠ There is deliberately no "how much it brings in" column. We have no measurement of the return per channel and we are not going to invent one: the columns above are cost and time, the only things we know reliably. When we have enough data on where requests come from, we will publish that column too.
Three mistakes that cancel out all the effort
A different name for your trade on every channel. If your classifieds ad says "painting work", your Google profile "renovations" and your platform profile "all kinds of work", the client does not recognise you as the same person, and search does not link you to any single query. Choose one wording and repeat it nine times.
Photos that prove nothing. A picture of a paint tin is not a reference. Only the same before-and-after shot works, ideally with a detail people remember: a corner, a joint, the edge of a tile.
Replying the next day. On the coast, that is a lost job: of nine requests marked urgent, eight were from Budva. Inland you have more room, but the rule stands: speed is part of the offer, not a courtesy.
The first seven days
- Day 1: write one sentence (trade, town, starting price) and photograph three finished jobs.
- Day 2: your Google Business Profile.
- Day 3: an ad on a classifieds site, with a price.
- Day 4: your platform profile, and check your radius. Twenty of the 43 profiles sit at an untouched 25 km, and Podgorica to Budva is about 60 km.
- Day 5: two local groups, no advertising.
- Day 6: a call to two tradespeople in a related trade.
- Day 7: ask your last two clients for a review.
All of this only makes sense if the work can be invoiced properly: a fiscalised receipt is a condition for companies, agencies and landlords, and the electronic fiscalisation system is run by the Tax Administration.
Where jobs are actually being opened, town by town, we showed in the demand barometer; the broader strategy for reaching clients is in how to find clients; and how the platform works from your side is in how Glatko works. Registration is free, and you can see your category in the services overview.
Frequently asked questions
Nothing, for eight of the nine channels in this article. The only costs are business cards and the lettering on your van. What you really need is time: about four hours to set up and fifteen minutes or so a week to keep it going.
